Sales Reps!!

Okay time for a bit of honesty here people, are you guys selling accessory bundle packages as if they are included in with the phone and if so are you advising the customers that they DO NOT need to buy the bundle with the phone? I just had a 1/2 hour call about that!

I think it's a bit of a grey area... I'm not a Verizon employee, but I have seen the way they price things. The price card will say "LG VX7000 - $249.99 minus $70 rebate = $179.99 plus $39.99 accessory bundle = $219.99" Of course, that final price INCLUDING accessories is in really big print, and so anybody not really paying attention just looks and assumes that is the price of the phone. It's actually a pretty good marketing strategy, because it makes the customer think in terms of buying the total package together and what that costs, instead of selling them the phone alone at it's price and then trying to talk them into adding stuff on. I've thought about pricing my stuff this way, but it makes me a little uncomfortable.

I know when I worked retail my manager had us do what we called "Bring 5" with every sale. So when someone would buy a phone we'd bring up for example a headset, CLA (car lighter adapter), case, battery, and a speaker phone. Then we'd tell the customer that "You'd should seriously look into buying some of these things with your phone, which do you like?" This worked extremely well because customers were brought in with the phone but then the open ended question on there would in most cases have someone buying like the Headset or case pretty reliably because they are the cheaper of the accessories.

Smoke and Mirrors.Every one should knows the worst place to buy accessories is in a Factory store!!

But then at Verizon people tend to buy without even looking at competitors offerings.

the most dependable accessories to buy are in a corporate store, dumba$s.

the people buying from us don't need to look at our competitors. whats the point? who wouldn't want the best? 😛

OMG thats exactly what the rep told me in the store, "you get a warranty' Its the most dependable....Sort of like the MOST reliable service and all that. Ok fine, Then you look at the package and the crap is made in China, just the the same much less expensive stuff at Best Buy, that also has a warranty!(And since when does a plastic $25 case need a warranty? Give the wiser a break.

You must be really beginning to believe what i have said all along. The herd mentality buying Verizon is in deed ignorant to the specifics.

I know from experience , not from a sales rep who is only looking to pocket some coin. I have usetruck stop car chargers and have had no issues with battery life. I have never needed to change a battery in my old V60i. I did not use the Mot stuff.

Thats the kind of crap you spew out to your customers to "scare" them into paying too much for something.

Fear is the best way to sell anything in this country. Look around?

Verizon rep- "What if you breakdown on the highway? "What will you do without Verizons 'better" coverage? OMG. So many have died on the highways and byways stranded with a cell signal!"

"IF you don't buy our car charger. OMG, your battery will be destoryed" And tell me what will you do if you are in the woods and...

And many chargers come with battery protection. Verizon does not hold a patent on that technology!

Maybe Verizon designs their phone so one has to use their USA made accessories. That would not be something I would put passed them.

I've never had ANY salesman pitch anything like that to me. And I've been in every store I can find but Nextel. Granted I've had sales people "not hear" me when I told them I already have a car charger, or I don't use a leather case. But nothing like that has ever been said to me. It's absurd, that's the kind of thing you say to little old ladies.

And this is the first place I've EVER heard of an "inferior" chargers hurting the battery. Chargers GENERALLY all work the same way. There's a 12v plug, which runs to a small transformer and then into a wire that ends in a plug fit to the phone....that's all really. Circuit or surge protection is a joke, if that tiny transformer goes, the thing won't work.

There are some that come fused and some don't, and they do protect the transfromer and phone when they are. No it don't justify the higher cost, just saying there are a difference. When I by a CLA, I make sure it has a fuse. 🙂 my RatShack experence (no I don't know if the Verizon ones have fuses or not, I got mine from RatShack.)

that's why I said generally, but inevitably if that fuse goes, so does the charger. Great thing is that home power surges a lot more than cars do and the phone is usually built with this in mind.

You come from a place of defending something that puts money in your pocket. Of course you are going to make claims like that! Who would expect any different.

Tell smart boy. Who makes Verizon after market products. Do you even know? I will bet that same company or more likely distributor sells the SAME products to a variety of vendors and resellers.

Of course you don't have a clue and believe there is a factory somewhere in the US with Verizon employees designing, soldering, and sewing!

I'll be waiting for your answer. Somehow I don't think I am going to get one and this will be one of the few posts you ignore now and then because you cannot answer the question. Maybe in true Verizon fashion you will just call me a cute name inst...

85percent I like all your responses and agree with all of them except this one.

I am an Authorized Agent that sells Verizon and we have accessories that are as good as the corporate stores.

Plus we offer an "unconditional warranty exchange policy" on our accessories which means no matter whats happens, even if your dog chews it up we will replace it for free. Not lost or stolen but damaged or not working.

The corporate stores do not do this. At an agent store like mine, we charge $10 below corporate store pricing. But you still receive the same Verizon wireless service.

As I said; the factory store OF ANY company are the worst places to buy accessories. They pitch them like they are somehow better then what one would find in a mall or on an internet sight.

None are made by Verizon factory workers. All imported from china and the like. ALL priced in the statosphere.

The resellers do have better prices and way more selection.

Are they sold exclusivly to Verizon? Who else OEMS them. Please tell. I would bet the maker sells the same products in different packages to a lot of resellers who then resell tham at many different prices. I would bet they are not "special."

It seems not. I pity the poor customers who have to deal with you. Evn I knew China was the manufacturere of most if not all of your accesories. you sell the crap at premium prices, I might add and claim you "made a mistake"

hoew many "mistakes' do you make with your custmers every day when asked the tough qiuestions? Then the CSR has to claim the issue!
