Will be dropping verizon asap

I've been having problems with my phone for a long time, and verizon refuses to do anything about it. I just spent over an hour on the phone with them, and was treated like complete garbage. You think they would help someone out who has had them for about 6 years. Unfortunately, I am stuck with a nearly unusable phone, which I still need to pay a monthly fee for, until next june.
Why can't they actually help their customers? I cannot wait to get rid of them after this.

Thanks and this is not a scam. if anyone else is interested just do as followed i can send pics too!

So why wouldn't they help you, are you out of manufacturer warranty and not have insurance. Or did you break or get your phone wet, there has to be a reason why they wouldn't help you. I doubt they flat out refused for no reason.

They claim water damage, but the phone has never been near water. I've been extra careful about that. The little water-indicator dot is only partially red too. Which means that the phone definitely could not have been submerged in water. I think it's from humidity or rain drops. Regardless, I've been having issues such as a constant crackling noise during phone calls, issues with clarity, calls not going through on the first try, not receiving calls in the first place and poor reception. Areas in which I used to get full reception, I will only get 2 bars in. I think their service has declined.
We have a total of 4 phones with them, and we tried to get them to drop early termination for just this phone, but they wouldn't.
If they're not w...

What is your location, if I may ask. I live just outside of Boston, and I noticed lately that Verizon's service has been declining too. I used to get very good reception compared to my last carrier, Nextel. My phone now gets full bars in Boston, but I only work there and don't use the phone much when I am in town. But in my home area, I get 2 bars or nothing, and the calls drop. I have checked with a few people already (near my house and work), and they claim to get full reception with Cingular. Even with the upgrades and even with a newer phone, reception remains the same.

I live like 30 min outside NYC. My friends, who have cingular, usually get more reception than I do. At a minimum, they get the same amount of reception as me.
I wish there was a way that we could just switch now without having to pay $700 in early termination fees.
Once we switch to cingular, we are going to keep them. Verizon will never have the privilage of having us again... especially after how they've treated us.

not completly true. Then you would have to verify you are moving out of the country. My showing either a utility bill (electric, water, gas but dont take land line bills) or a rent aggreement with your name and the info address and contact number for the landlord. Would all have to be current so everything could be verified before you get your fees waived.

And usually you would have to get a new phone number because if you are moving out of the country they won't allow you to port out. And besides you think that another company is going to give you all star service? Most of the companies have the same policies when it comes to phone warranties considering those are through the manufacturer not the provider. And ETF's are just as strict with any company. Don't get your hopes up too much! 🙂

I'm sorry you feel that way, and I'm sure the reps that you talked to are probably not the nicest people in the world. But honestly, will any other wireless carriers replace your phone (at no cost, or at promotion) in the case of liquid damage and no insurance? I doubt it. I know you have tried to take great care in keeping your phone away from water, but accidents happen. You lay your phone on the counter in a ring of condensation left by a cold glass. Was this done out of negligence? no it was an accident. But was this Verizon's fault either? no. I don't know exactly how your phone could have gotten the moisture damage, but in reading your description of the problems you are having and the broad range of their nature, I would sa...

I have had this problem with the e815 for almost a year now..the roaming upgrades don't help.

I am in Bellevue..a mile from Microsoft. When I call to iquire (politely) why I'm having this issue, they just tell me that the area I'm in is a "known bad area" and that they "cannot do anything" about it.

One rep was even nice enough to suggest me paying somewhere around 400-500 in ETF and Phone costs, due to me signing the undercost agreement, and switching to Cingular...Sorry..dont have that kind of cash..will continue with VZW and see if it improves.

They were friendly for the most part..but unhlepful..and one lady was downright rude..but ill just call her having a bad day. Hopefully they can add a tower here soon.

I actually went to the Verizon store yesterday. Someone from here suggested I go there and speak to a tech. After looking at my phone, he said he noticed how my phone would go from 2-3 bars, to nothing, and then to 2-3 bars again. There was also a tower down in my area, which he explained was the reason for the very spotty reception. He also told me that basically I would need a new phone. Since my phone is long gone discontinued, he said he could give me another Audiovox phone (a discountinued, refurbished one) and that he had to track for it. Or my other option was to speak with someone from sales and see what they can do for me. Unfortunately I fould out that I was not eligible for an upgrade for several months. So if I wanted to ...

Dude, not to be a d*ck or anything, but your phone is water damaged, regardless of whether it was submerged or not. All those things you just told me are being caused by the damage caused by the water. If you were to open it I bet you would find a lot of corrosion. I used to be phone technician, I've seen it way too many times.

If you wanna leave Verizon because you feel they were less than helpful to you, that's your prerogative. However, don't be mad at them for something that you caused, intentionally or otherwise.

In addition, Cingular will have the same policies in place. I know, most of the phones I had to repair were Cingular phones with water damage. So, you're not escaping that.

Hope it goes well for you.

In the last two years, I've washed exactly two phone, a Moto V710 and a Sammy A610. I left them in my pants pocket and put them in the wash (hey...I like clean clothes RIGHT NOW! 🙂 ). Anyway, I was able to replace the A610 with insurance with the $50.00 deductable and the insurance phone was brand new. The A710...Well, I was ready for an upgrade so no need to kill the insurance.

The moral of the story is, I had insruance and was able to resolve by own boneheaded move with the insurance.

When I read the original post, I was surprised that the author said that it had been in rain. That is water and water damage. I'm not sure where the idea that this electronic equipment is different than any other. Would someone bring a radio out in th...

Incognitoool,

All carriers provide little support for handsets and have policies that are very bad for customers in terms of making good on defective equipment. The “red dot” water damage scam is a prime example. I’ve seen phones that have never been near water end up with the dreaded red dot. The indicator on my son’s RAZR turned red when the hot humid summer weather started (fortunately phone still functions perfectly). In any case, if you go into a restaurant and place your phone on a table that has just been wiped clean by the busboy, that cannot be construed as mis-use or abuse by any reasonable person. The example above speculating that you may have laid your phone on a damp table is silly.

All carriers (not just Verizon) have t...

That was a well thought out response but bad explaination. the red dot is a scam???? oh my god. its true. we are caught. damn. the red dot is actually a microprossessor ran inkjet that after a certain amount of time automatically disperses the dreaded red ink. yeah its really an insurance scam they put us up to it. water doesnt really ruin electronic devices either we just say it does to make more money. actually us insiders call it the magic bullet of cell phones. you should get that analogy want new phone. its a conspiracy i say! 🙂

umm how about being locked in a room with rupaul. ahhhhhh. just joking. Anyway back to the subject. The red dot does not just turn red on its own. Their are reasons. Their may be to much humidy which is basically water. So it starts to turn. Their is the possibility of it turn if you put it on a wet table. Depends on how wet but would be best dont do it. Running. If you sweat you dont know where that sweat is going good change in your phone which will damage it. If you could would you put your laptop some where water or sweat would be running on it for 30 and hr or however long you run. No but you would do the same for a cell phone. Dude, it has NOTHING to do with ABUSE, its either it DID, or DIDNT happen.

Im sorry if the fact that you have to PAY for something to replace the something that no longer works (through fault or no fault of your own), but I believe that is the way the world works... the term is capitalism.

I provide a product, you pay for said product, if said product fails within the set period of warranty, you may, at your discretion, return it to the maker for restitution, or purchase another, similar product from me, for a fee, to replace said broken product.

I have used my phone (Sam a950) in the following circumstances:

* Used it as a music player while I was showering.
* Used it as my music player while jogging (it was in my pockets while I was sweating on a 97F day, so I was really sweating badly)
* Placed it on a just whiped down table at restaurant
* Talked on it in light rain
* Dropped it in grass that was wet from rain/sprinklers

Guess what my indicators say... NOTHING! It takes more than sweat and humidity and all that other BS to bleed those indicators or turn your charging ports green. For one wireless providers are "networks" ie they are in business to provide/maintain, etc cell sites... They do not make phones.. Example for people who just dont get it??? Comcast provides cable service, if you should drop your TV and break it, they are not going to send you a new TV to use with the service they are in business to provide, WHICH IS cable, etc....
