Why would you want the V710 over the E815? There is not one advantage to having it.

The reason this guy wants the V710 was it was one of that last Verizon phones that also supported Analog. Fact: Ask any verizon employee in the country and they will tell you 100% of the analog towers have been disabled. Fact: They are all lying, you can still use analog towers in certain areas.

Actually, the V710 completely sucks until you learn how to completely hack the OS. Once you do that you can get all the functionality back that Verizon tires to kill. Can you say Blue tooth and file transfer. How I love Howards Forum. Oh well my warranty is void, who gives a crap Verizon wasn't supporting this POS phone anyway.

To all the people this weekend that called me an idiot, well now I'm officially dumb enough to work for Veri...

I not sure where you get you info. FACT: Verizon still has a lot of roaming agreements with Analog Carriers. FACT: Tri-mode phones are still supported and still being released. Get your facts straight because your sound like an idiot.

Fact: Once again just go the Jersey City Store in the newport mall and every person there will tell you all the Analog cell towers have been disabled. Also, the Boynton Beach, FL Verizon store also believes that Analog service is discontinued. I am actually agreeing with you, but unfortunately Verizon Sales Reps all over the country are misinformed. Unfortunately, they seemed uninformed on a number of issues.

For example, on the V710 lawsuit. If you call the customer service number they will send you to the website for more information or tell you to call another 800 number. The 800 number sends you to the website. The stores send you to the website. The website tells you about your 3 or 4 options, but don't actually tell you how ...

FACT: Authorized Agents don't know anything and thats your first problem.

FACT: Analog is being phased out by ALL carriers.

FACT: No one uses Analog as a selling point anymore because of the conversion to digital.

FACT: Reps from 2 areas in the US that are wrong doesn't make ALL the sales reps wrong.

I didn't go to an "Authorized Agent", I only have gone directly to Verizon Owned locations. Yes, Analog is being phased out, but my point is the majority of Verizon sales reps will tell you Analog is no longer supported. If you don't believe me just go to your local Verizon store and ask if you can get a tri-band phone that supports Analong - then you'll get the whole we don't have any Analong towers anymore crap.

Yes, 2 areas in the US doesn't make all the sales reps wrong, but it did make it 2 for 2 in my random sample. That's the begining of supporting my plausible hypothesis.

FACT: You are a F@#king retard
not all authorized agents are bad. just go down to the local coporate store and they don't know what the he11 they are doing. However there are both good and bad direct and indirect people. Just because the guy you responded to doensn't know what he is talking about doesn't mean he went to an authorized agent to get his info.

FACT: Agents typically know more than coporate stores!

FACT: Agents are more customer focused than corporate stores!

FACT:You attacking agents actually shows your lack of training and is very insulting to those of us that are probably better trained and do a much better job than you!

FACT: Both of these posts are truly insulting and confusing to the customer!

FACT: WE ARE ON THE SAME TEAM DON'T HATE ME B/C I MAKE MORE MONEY THAN YOU

FACT: You are an idiot, There are many agents out there that take their job seriously and really know what is going on in the industry. I have had multiple opportunities to work for corp over the past 5 years and have decided to stay in the indirect channel for my own reasons. Yes if you go to a kiosk in in meijers and get some $7 an hour part time employee who is 17 years old you might not get the most correct info, however I as an agent have ran into countless morons in the customer service department and in service centers. I was sitting there getting my phone flashed and wanted to correct the woman behind the counter about three times for giving incorrect info. People are people, some are a little brighter than others no matter what sale...

FACT: You don't need bitpim to get stuff from the transflash onto the V710.

FACT: V710 is a great phone.

FACT: You're even more moronic than i thought.

In the last firmware version of the V710, Verizon disabled the ability to copy or move stuff from the transflash card.

My card will NOT transfer data into a computer with any reader, it recognized the device but the file directory is unreadable (yes, I tried various methods on various computer with various readers - but it still works without a problem in the phone).

Once again, verizon is a bunch of Morons for screwing over their customer base, but further restricting the phones functionality with each software "upgrade." The software upgrades were nothing more then hidden ways of Verizon trying to further restict their cutomers so they could sell more services.

Also, Verizon appeared to disable the ability to install and run your...

Why would you assume that he only wants it for the analog capability?
...

May 30, 2006, 9:40 PM
You are correct it's just an assumption, but the additional features with the E815 were:

EV-DO high-speed data, streaming video playback, and more memory, which clearly he had no interest in; so the one feature the V710 had over the replacement model was the Tri-Mode fuctionality. Also, the V710 is fairly easy to hack for bluetooth functionality, copy/move, java installatiion, etc. if you know what you're doing. On of the biggest problem with both phones is the faulty charge connection.

Yes, I was assuming that first and foremost he wanted to use the V710 as just a phone and having tri-mode is the one advantage that stood out over the successor.

I dont want an evdo phone. I dont have the net on my phone, I thinks its stupid and a waste of the battery and money. I also dont want video play back on a phone. But you were right I travel in the mountain states and in very rural areas and would like a tri band phone.

What's the gripe with the charge port? I'm on my 3rd phone that's used this charge port and haven't had problem ONE with the port. Sure it needs cleaning periodically, but I've never had a phone replaced because it wouldn't charge. I've actually never had a phone replaced for any reason other than upgrading. Maybe I'm just more careful with my cell phones (though my T730 dropped from waist-level accidentally several times early in its life) but I realize that they're sensitive/delicate electronics and treat them as such.

I'm still using the charger that came with my FIRST phone with this port, the V120C.

On my first V710 I tried to save a few bucks with an after market charger - big mistake. The Moto's seemed very picky. It looks like there are 3 spring loaded charge connections. Over time on my first V710 it refused to take a charge no matter what. I switched to only Motorolla chargers. Also, I used a motorolla extended battery, which made the phone much thicker, but the normal battery life on the phone was not so great.

I would charge my phone almost every night and after a year, the phone would constatly display the error "Unable to Charge." By the time verizon gave me the $50 replacement, I was lucky to get my address book off the phone because even the Verizon Tech couldn't get it to accept a charge. The replacement phone has ...

I just ordered a Q to try it out. Frankly, I don't see what it will do for me that my RAZR with Broadband tethering won't.

The Q won't tether, and I get too many emails to tap tiny buttons all night long. But I have never owned a PDA or Smartphone, so here goes a try at one.
