LG phone...Carkit mode?
My boyfriend dropped his phone, and by some act of God, it bounced and landed in a dog water dish. The phone turns on fine and looks to be okay, but is stuck in car kit mode. Sometimes if we throw it around a bit, it will get off for a few moments. He does have insurance, but he's trying to avoid paying the 50, so he's hoping to fix it himself. Any suggestions?

Car kit = water damage
Try to put a new battery in it, but more than likely, you're SOL.

Check the charging port to see if there is corrosion in there. If there is try scraping it off. We have a alcohol pen that we use on phones, that occasionally helps. Also check the charging port to make sure all the little metal prongs are still straight, if they are not it can act weird. I can't promise anything but I have fixed a few lg's this way.

Car kit means that the gold pieces inside the headset port are "stuck in". Usually it is physical damage (and in this case, probably oxidation from the water). You can try to put a headset in and out to release it or take the battery out and GENTLY hit the headset port side in the palm of your hand. You may release it, but it is unfortunately unlikely.

I've always referred to the "car kit" message as the blue screen of death for LG phones 🤣 99 times out of a 100 there's nothing you can do for those phones. I've never heard of a store giving the $50 fru option because it's usually water or physical damage
