..do customers feel as those we (VZW) owe them something when they call cust servce? This lady calls in yesterday and says she lost her phone and because she didn't have insurance and her upgrade was not until '07, so she had to purchase a phone at full retail. I say "ok...", she replies "well, i feel as if I should be compensated for half the cost"--my answer "sorry ma'am, but that is not something that I may be able to do for you. I would strongly suggest insruance the next time you do get a new phone to prevent situtations like this"....so she says "i didn't want to get insurance because it's $4.99 a month and there's a $50 deductible"--i say "well, it would've ultimately cost you less if you had did so rather than paying $219.99 for a...

I get it too here at my regional carrier. Some folks tell us they've been with us for upwards of 10 years, when we were called something else, and because of their longevity, they feel entitled to preferential treatment. Insurance is the kind of thing that either you're going to pay now, or you're going to pay later. Better to have it and not need it than the reverse. Hard to get that concept across to folks. Accidents DO happen, if you live in my world, anyway.

I learned the hard way when I first signed up for Verizon Wireless service in March 2002 at Radio Shack. They never mentioned anything about insurance, and lost my phone 7 months into my contract. Radio Shack near my home tells me that their phones aren't insured because it's not an option. They wanted me to pay $200 for a new phone with no insurance to be placed on the new phone. I went to another reseller and they called up Verizon Wireless to see what they could do to get me a new phone, and Verizon Wireless offered at that time, an Oops program (for people who didn't insure their phones) and at that time, offered the Kyocera 2235 for $80. The condition to getting the phone thru that program required me to extend my contract. It wa...

Some of these people are complete idiots. They like to use the excuse "well I've had this phone for 6 years and nothing has happened to it yet, so just give me that Razor for 79 bucks. Why would I get insurance, cuz that's more than the phone costs?" Seriously I cannot stress enough that the stupid Razor is not retailed at 79 and beleive me, you will drop it in the toilet or something stupid as soon as you turn down the insurance. I am not that stupid to think you really had that 2 year old phone for 6 years. RETARDS.

As I posted within this thread, my local Radio Shack stores refuse to offer it, and when a person loses their phone, they want the customer to pay retail, with no chance to get th...

Lockline insurance pays zero to the sales channel to sell it...hence why Radio Shack doesn't offer it. Verizon started making the customer say they decline the insurance...but Radio Shack would still just add the declined feature. They always looked out what was in the best interest for their pockets and not what was the best interest for the customer. They tried to sell that 50 dollars "free battery" service plan to a customer instead. They made money on that...but it didn't cover crap for insurance.

You think doing CR for a cell company is bad, try working for a auto manufacture. I talk with customers all day with 100,000 plus miles on their vehicles wanting everything fixed for free. 🙄

Same was with cell phones... buy the service contract if you plan on keeping your car well past the warranty period!!!

No crap. I put 25k a year in mileage on my car every year. I will only buy Toyota...(would consider Honda) for reliability...but I still make sure I have the 100k warranty just in case. I know it is usually costly, 1500 for my current one, but it will be well worth it if my engine went...or transmission went...etc.

I am not a VZW employee nor do I work for any wireless provider. Just an insight as a consumer of 20+ years.

I use VZW for voice and tMobile for Blackberry. Lately because of repeated issues with our Razr's I have spent a fair amount of time at the VZW service center. I have been SHOCKED at the number of people who don't use BackUp Assistant. I think that its the greatest tool VZW has ever offered! My point being that when I see others having to change their phones and then pay for an address book transfer, I am left stunned that they don't have BackUp Assistant. When I talk to these people, they never heard of the product!

As for this woman and her insurance resistance, she's a fool. That said, I wonder how many people even know that ...

You know what she's right. I'm going to go to my Ford dealership tomorrow and demand that they buy me a new car. I've been their customer for over ten years and I think they owe me something. Or should I demand that my Allstate insurance agent buy me a car?

LMAO...yeah...I just had a fender bender but don't feel like getting it fixed, so I think the dealership should just give me a new one...I mean...you know, it is their fault because my headlights haven't worked since day one...what do you mean did I take it back to them to have it fixed? Heck no I didn't! that's THEIR problem...and now that I am getting screwed by the repair shop I just DESERVE a new car.

Does VZW make you pay a higher deductible for certain phone models? T-Mobile may give you the most whenever minutes but their insurance program sucks.....last time I checked the deductible for my razr was $110 and the monthly fee is $5 or so a month... For this reason, I removed the insurance from my plan and would rather buy an unlocked phone if something happened to my phone because if you multiply $5 or so a month by the number of months and the add $110 it comes out to a lot of money.

The insurance is not through VZW. It us through Asurion, and no, the deductible is 50.00 regardless of the phone model.
