PANTECH ? ! ?! ? ! ? ! ? ! ?
Iād like to get your opinions on Pantech phones. As VZW began releasing these entry level Pantechs, I had the impression it was a third rate manufacturer trying to gain market share by manufacturing junk that the carriers could offer for next to nothing.
I have since learned that Pantech is the second largest Korean hand set manufacturer, significantly larger than LG and catching up to Samsung. I have also read that in Asia they focus on high-end products as opposed to the entry-level stuff, and that they are highly regarded in the Asian markets.

LG phones have been around for more than 5 yrs and I still get plp ask me:
Customer: I like this LG C2000. How makes it? š
Me: (sighs) LG!!!! hello??? š
Customer: oh! I've never heard of LG... I think I'll get this SonyEricson z520a instead.
Me: ok. (sale closed) š
When they were sold to UTStarcom, that started to change, since UTStarcom is actually a phone manufacturer.
But it has changed slowly. UTStarcom handled Pantech through December 2005, until Pantech broke out on their own in 2006. UTStarcom still handles KTFT phones like the CDM-9200, although that may change now that LG recently bought KTFT.
The phones that UTStarcom is really pushing now are their own phones, like the 7025 and 7075.
