Gotta love people.

Lady comes into my store a couple weeks ago. She needs to file an insurance claim. She purchased her phone at Radio Shack about a year ago. (odd that she has the 4.99 lockline insurance since RS tries not to sell it) Radio Shack sends her away as "They don't deal with Verizon" anymore. (The nice, you aren't radio shack's customer you are Verizon's customer mentality that they possess) They wouldn't help her at all. She comes over here. I help her by showing her everythng she needs to do to file the claim. The customer "can't be without her phone for one day" and doesn't have a credit card to pay the deductible. She is sending a check. I loan her a phone to use until she gets her replacement. She comes in with...

I was telling my dad about that and he had one better. He is a service manager at a John Deer dealership. He had a guy call for an estimate. The job was going to be something like 20 grand. The guy then says he has a "friend" that will do the work for 19 grand. This guy he knows will give a 30 days warranty. Dad says that John Deer gives a one year warranty. The guy says that he will just give the business to his "friend" and save the grand. 2 months later he gets a call from that customer. He wants John Deer to come fix his motor that blew apart (what was "fixed" by his "friend"). Dad says sure...at a rate of XXX to look at it and then he will give him an estimate. The guy freaks out. It's a John Deer and YOU should fix it...bla...

oh...and when my father refused to do that work for the guy (getting all the part numbers, which could take a couple hours to locate all the parts and the numbers) HE CALLED JOHN DEER and complained. When the John Deer rep called my dad to find out what REALLY happened, and was explained, the rep said he would have not only refused but made sure he slammed the phone as hard as he could!

I had someone try something like that on me when I worked at a power equipment service center. I just told them the part numbers were only available to customers on their invoice.

People would also complain about being charged $15 for me (not the mechanic) to take 5 minutes to get their mower running in the spring. Usually people had a cloged fuel nozzle in the carb float bowl. Wrench to undo the bolt and air compressor to blow it out and it's done. I don't know how many times people yelled "I COULD HAVE DONE THAT!!". To which I would just say, "Why didn't you? Could have saved $15"... idiots

Yeah, we're supposed to be getting 2 Wal-Marts in my area selling Verizon, and yes, they beat the crap out of our prices (my boss actually BOUGHT verizon pre-paid phones FROM Wal-Mart!) So wat we been told is if they get then phone there, and expect help from us, to start charging processing fees. I been working here for almost a YEAR and I have never charged a processing fee, I always went with the whole "I treat you good, you buy from me, and refer your friends to buy from me". But if ppl are gonna get there phones from somewhere else, and then assume I am gonna continue to help them for free cuz I am a "nice guy" they got another think coming. Yeah, it sucks. They have put a little dent on my sales. Not bad enough to care...but everyone they get is stealing from me. Stealing because that Wal-Mart actually sent people over to *228 their phones! And since I am such a "nice guy" (as the reps over at Wal-Mart even called me) I would be more then willing to program their phones, show them how to use them, help them set up their voice mail, and be here for service! I quickly went to them and explained that sure...I am a "nice guy". But unlike them who get paid 6 bucks and hour to pick their nose...I get paid for one thing and one thing only...activations. So don't tell the people that my service will be "free" (as they did to their first few sales). I will charge for services fr...

Well, I know Verizon charges $10 for number switches (I do for free) they charge $20 for ESN changes (EVEN IF YOU UY THE PHONE OUT RIGHT AT THERI STORE! THEY STILL CHARGE U $20 TO DO THE ESN CHANGE LIKE WTF) and $15 for any other processing fees, including (which I find to be the most scandolous thing in the world):

Customer: "My phone has a bad signal in my area very staticky"

REP: "One sec let me take it to the back room and see if we can flash it" (takes phone to back room and *228 it, option 2 to update it πŸ™„ )

REP: "There you go 5 full bars! That will be $15"

Gotta love it.

F*ck that dude.

When a customer buys a phone, no matter how, I do the transfer and esn (if applicable) for free. THATS CUSTOMER SERVICE.

And if you buy a phone from a chain store or off the internet or whatever else, you will be charged for those same things.

Oh, and I never charge the "early upgrade fee"

WTF is that about?? Jeez. 😈

Earyl Upgrade fee? Never heard of that one. yeah no matter if its outright, or as an ESN change or for an Upgrade, I always transfer numbers and ESN cahnge for free. My friend had his Lg8100 Blitz, and I was like well, its under the 1 yr warranty take it in and get a new one. They gave him his free phone under warranty but charged him $10 to transfer his Numbers and $15 for the ESN change, and they gave him REFURB lg 8100 to boot! Man I went in there, went off on them, told them to give him his $25 back, and I did it all at my store for free. Bunch of greedy jack asses. Especailly if someone buys the phone outright.

Whoever did that to your friend doesn't know what they are doing since that's not VZW policy. If a phone is exchanged under warranty the esn change, contact transfer and redownloading of all lost GIN products is free. I've even credited people for downloading backup assistant if there wasn't a store around.

depends on the service. My policy on loaners (although I rarely enforce it) is that the customer puts a 50.00 deposit and then then is charged 10 bucks a week...minimum 10 bucks. I charge 25.00 to go over billing. Troubleshooting a phone? 10 bucks. Phone book transfers...10 bucks.

Of course these are all free to customers that purchased through me. And most of the time I will go to write up the sale but tell the customer that if they agree that they will buy their next phone AND agree to send at least three people in to me, I will waive the fee(s).

I do have a local company that I bent over backwards to help out with the Nextel account...always at free of charge, but with the agreement they would do business with us. Then they...

Often I've noticed that indirect agents can offer a better deal for new activations than we can. As a new customer, the only free phone is the POS PN-210. I'm sure every agent has at least 4 free phones to choose from. That or you charge the same but "give away" a ton of accessories for cheap.

Do you have a secondary contract at your location? I know a lot of agents in my area do and the ETF is nearly double Verizon's.

Theoretically you wouldn't need one because you did a great job signing them up and they love their plan and phone and have no reason to cancel in the first 6 months... Buuuut people are dumb and I've seen people pay 5 etf's a month before the end of the contract or after 3 months when they lose their new(uninsured) phone.

I can understand why an agent would have it, but it is often so much that it seems unreasonable.

He freaks out and starts the whole, "...So you're telling me that I will have to cancel my 23 lines and go to Cingular or Nextel and take my business there because you dont have the accessories I need?!"

I said, "I cant say that is a sure fix for your particular situation, but you may just need to pick up a new phone. Much like PCs, as time goes by, items become harder t...

Yet another "price is the ONLY thing" person.

Hate ta say it, but you really shouldn't help out folks who don't buy from you. Let 'em find out exactly WHY you don't buy stuff from Wal-Mart. Let 'em find out the downside of goin' with the cheapest.

Doin' stuff to be 'nice' may win you a new customer here an' there, but it also shields a lot of skinflints from da consequences of their actions.

Walmart is gonna make things tough on the stores that provide good service, thats for sure. ☹️

But I don' know if its gonna be THAT bad. Some will flock to Walmart, and then find out that the guys there can't do sheeite 'cept ring up the phone. The ones that want good service will then walk out and go to the corp stores or good agents.

The BAD part will be the asshats who go tothe corp stores or good agents to pump the reps dry of information, then leave to go buy the phone for cheap at Walmart. That will suck.

But in the end, not much has changed. Its just Radio Shack, Part 2 for Verizon. They substituted Walmart's mega-distribution and bad service for Radio Shack's mega-distribution and bad service, that's all.

When I told her no such code exists, she said the sales person at TMobile said I would tell her that so she couldn't use it anywhere else. I flat out told her he was an idiot. The big difference is that their prices include NO help, no advice, nothing, and mine include everytinng. "How much luck do you think you would have getting a loaner from Wal-Mart?"

By the way. I think your professionalism was very good. Keep up the good work!

I had to exchange an E815 Verizon holster that disintegrated due to light manufacturing processes. The Vzw store had 2 greeters, and two 'tech support' people who got stuck with all the work. In the 25 minutes I had to wait, I figured out each and every sales person's modus operundi. Quite enlightening. Needless to say, I made good use of my forced wait!

Call custoemr care and tell them what happened and get in contact with him so you can get his phone back to him. Technically if he left it there it is still his phone. Make sure the phone can actually be used, and not find out that the phone was reported lost. Check the ESN# to make sure that the phone can be activated by someone else, unless the person wants the phone for spare parts. I would go that route first, to make sure that the phone can be activated by someone else, and not find out that the phone was either reported lost, or worse, there's a bill tied to that phone that needs to be paid.
