I was look at other forums and I came across a thread from the Qwest forum stating the VZW will take over Qwest's towers. Does anyone know if this is true?

Qwest PCS sold its spectrum to VZW for 400 million and change. Before doing so it sold several towers to Sprint PCS. VZW is picking up new licenses in WA, OR, ID, NE, CO, etc. Qwest was never big enough to be anything other than a pain in the neck. The benefit to VZW is not so much the new customer base they will be picking up, but the coverage in markets they once paid roaming to Sprint, USCC and others.
This will enhance the footprint to give customers a more cohesive network. Seattle customers will be able to send pictures from Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier when they build it out. MWI will work in Omaha, etc.

Verizon is getting the licenses and the majority of the towers. Sprint bought some of the towers that won't benefit Verizon before the deal was done. Sprint is retrofitting those towers now for their network.
Sprint is not getting Qwest's customers. Qwest is a mobile virtual network operator on the Sprint network. In other words Sprint is selling airtime to Qwest for their custoemrs to use.

Just like Virgin Mobile & what the 'new' AT&T Wireless will be after the Cingular/ATTWS merger.

not really, because the customer doesn't pay radio shack or the dealer every month, they get a bill from verizon or whatever svc. provider. Qwest bills their own cust. base, and sets their own rate plans, so will the "new" AT&T. 😎

Radio Shack is NOT a reseller. A reseller doesn't sell the service with the same plans and under the same name as the original carrier. Radio Shack is a national retail indirect agent, just the same as a small local dealer only not small and not local. 😉

And I hear they might not make their Sprint-mandated quota for this quarter, too.

D'oh!

Yep we missed the 30% increase over last year. The Verizon push was only 3%.

People are starting to wise up, quality is where the wireless market is heading for the baby boomers, and that is still a huge base for RadioShack. RadioShack wants to sell the coolest new gear, but who really thinks RadioShack is the coolest gear these days. They are always late to the gate. Innovation ceased after the TRS-80

A %30 gain over last year in Sprint PCS, yeah right? You can't make numbers happen like that overnight unless you got rid of credit checks and contracts altogether on Sprint.

Oh, yes, "cool new gear". Please. R$ sells 'doggie doorbells' and cappucino frothers. I worked there in college, and that company is sliding down the tubes quick.

Last quarter, the ONLY division to show a sales increase was the Wireless division. EVERY other division showed flat to declining sales. Even wireless sales can't sustain them for long. Mo...
