Now that I have the oppertuinity, should I?

I am currently a T-Mobile customer and am basically happy with T-Mobile. But my contract is up and I am ready for a change. T-Mobile's handset line really sucks. So I am thinking of either Sprint or Nextel, or Verizon. I am having some trouble deciding between the 3. What would you do? How is Verizon with regards to voice quality? Data transfer? (i.e. Txt msg. speeds. My friend has verizon and I txt her and she won't get it for a long time later. I txt her at 3pm, she didn't get it till 4am one time!!!!) So I am just trying to see what would be the best carrier to switch to...?

Thnx,
Matt

Holly Cow !! Your sure are hard on Army. I have Verizon Wireless as well as a business line with T-Mobile.I have found T-Mobile has much cleaner voice clarity then Verizon, however Verizon works in more places.
I would sugest that you find a unlocked phone that has the toys you are looking for and just buy it. If you connect with T-Mobile that stay with them.
Good luck ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

What army obviously meant to say was. Verizon Wireless hits more areas and works everywhere he does. Otherwise when he tried sprint/cingular he would have stayed with them. As far as the red bars he inserts the above complaint in most "what do you thinl about Verizon Wireless" and has been doing such for almost two months now.

you must have an older phone because you cant miss them. its verizon new standard UI and the menu has red bars at the top and bottom. on the razr you cant even change it to blue or that other puke color. you cant customize the phone at all. its just another addition to verizons control freak ways.

Do not let ArmySF throw you off that fast. First you need to answer some questions before deciding. FOr example a few questions you might want to ask yourself:

What do I need this phone for? Is it mainly for use as a phone? Do I need Movies, Songs, Games, and everything else? Do I need text msg plans? Do I want good coverage, or can I lack in it for "funner" phones? Does 2 red bars as my standard UI hurt me so bad that i feel like shooting myself?

All these and mroe are critical questions.

I personally use my phone as a phone, and I stick with Verizon due to it. Bad phones? Bad UI? Lots of locked components? yes Verizon has these problems, but they have the best NetWork. If you want a semi-close network, and "fun" ph...

Here we go again

I canโ€™t believe the retarded verizon logic that continues to circle in this forum. If I understand you correctly if I have a funner phone (there is know such word as funner, itโ€™s more fun) then Iโ€™m sacrificing service or coverage. All you verizon heads stick together know matter how wrong you are. If I have a funner ๐Ÿ™„ cingular phone then I have sub-par coverage? Give me break! whatever

Its not retarded circular logic, its simple fact. Verizon has standard phones with THEIR standard programs, and this makes the majority of their phones SUCK. This is all true. BUT Verizon DOES have the best network, and believe it or not, 99.99% of Verizon Customers, do not care about the "locked" components, no if their UI has 2 red bars. They care about 2 things:

Does my phone work where I live?

Does my phone work if I go other places?

For Verizon the answer to 99.99% of people in the case of these 2 questions is YES.

Thus Service>More Fun Phones.

Its all truth, it may not be what YOU want, or what is "the best" but it IS wat most customers want/need in phones and service and thus it WORKS. So please do not tell me I a...

What good is a phone that has all those extra features if you don't get enough service to get a call out. Its a phone first right? With all do respect I believe you are wrong, as it stands cingular still has more customers then verizon. You must have watched one too many verizon commercials or have been brainwashed by verizons training program. Whatever the case be, canโ€™t you think outside the box for one second and consider that the majority of cingular customers are happy with Cingular. You have admitted that verizon has suck ass phones, just go one more step admit cingular has more happy customers. Fun phones doesnโ€™t equal crap service thatโ€™s all Iโ€™m saying.

Yes Cingular has more customers for the time being, and if Cingulars network out does Verizon, then they shall remain number 1. But looking at Post Paid Activation numbers and churn rates, Verizon "may" catch up this year. Possibly even by 3rd quarter. I will not lie, I jump on the band wagon, and whomever is the best I will go with, but for now, reception wise, and customer care wise, Verizon Wireless has taken care of me for the last 7+ years.

I'm not really seeing anyone answer your questions.......

Vzw is top-notch for call quality. I have had their service since GTE wireless became VzW. Always been good.

Data xfer is some of the fastest in the industry if you are in an Ev-DO area. I am not and I will get texts with about a 2-3 second latency from a friend across the room.

Verizon is a great carrier. I have lost signal completely once in the past 2 1/2 years, and that was out in the boonies so far that I would be surprised if they even had landlines, let alone cell service. The phones used to all look and act the same, but they are coming up. The vx9800 is sweet lookin, as is the a970, and of course the razr for all of the people out there that gotta have it. The...

I honestly agree, if your simply looking for a phone service provider that will work, pending your in the middle of NOWHERE, I would go with Verizon. If red bars, and restrictions on some of the "toys" on your phones bothers you, then you may want to look else where as some customers cough*ArmySF*cough have a huge problem with that. Call quality can vary from city to city, of course. I live in Detroit, but travel extensively on the East Coast, Florida, Chicago and Los Angeles. In each of these places, coverage has been absoultely excellent. In the Detroit area I recently tried T-Mobile and Cingular and dropped more calls in a couple of days with each than I have with Verizon in four years.

As far as data, EVDO is fast - real fast. I have a cellular modem and I am very satisfied with it. If you're not in an EVDO area, it's slow - real slow. Text message delivery is instantaneous.

I highly recommend VZW. Their service is excellent. As far as their phones are concerned, the GSM carriers have a leg up simply because most of the rest of the world uses that tech...

UI stands for User Interface.....another way to put it would be GUI (Graphical User Interface).

it means that Verizon places a standard interface on their phones.....The way that you use each of their phones is the same, with the same menus and such. this is not true on any Windows Mobile phone, Palm phone, Blackberry phone, the Nokia 6256i, Moto e815, and I'm sure I'm missing a few.

what it does is standardize how to make programs interface with the phone and it also keeps verizon customers from having to learn a new interface everytime they pick up a verizon phone....I completely understand why they do it.

My first post here, hope it offends no one at all but it is my opinion which may be different than some others. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am just a Verizon customer and can not say much about anyone else except T-Mobile. Verizon works best for me now, I drive a truck in the Chattanooga TN area with lots of mountains and valleys. Had T-Mobile and it didn't provide as much coverage but when it did it was indeed good. I do have some dislikes about the general UI VZW has incorporated but overall I am pleased with the concept. My immediate family carries six different VZW phones. Every one of us has a different model phone and it is nice when I try to use anothers phone and don't have to learn anything about it to accomplish my call. I had and enjoyed my Sam...

UI

(User Interface)

The technical features of a device that the user interacts with directly.

Broadly, this can include hardware such as the display, buttons, other controls, and mechanical features.

More commonly, the UI refers to the software-controlled visual elements displayed on the screen that allow the user to interact with the device. This includes menus, icons, text entry boxes, etc.

Some UIs are easier to use than others (more user-friendly), and some are more customizable than others.

A standardized, consistent UI is a key component of major smartphone platforms such as Windows Mobile and Series 60.

It breaks down like this, all verizon phones now have a standard UI, which means the screens/menuโ€™s look...

Well it isn't that she isn't getting it. If you were to txt her from a Verizon phone then she would get it quicker. I would honestly stay away from Nextel. Their coverage really sucks. And for the phones on T-mobile sucks. I have worked for Cingular/At&t Wireless I have notice that most of the GSM phone actaully do suck compared to CDMA phones verizon and sprint uses. Verizon Wireless right now has pretty fast data connection. They have broadband access. You are just looking for an EVDO Capadable handset out there. I am currently working for Verizon Wireless as a Tech Support. From me working with a few other carriers. Verizon had a really good data base.
