Updating the VX-6000 software

How do you update your phone's software? Is there a phone # you can dial or do you have to take it into a verizon store?

If you're talking about the firmware - the phones operating system, in effect - then you need to go to a corporate store with an available tech. The tech will physically hook your phone up & download the new software via cable, as long as a new software patch exists, and usually they do, especially if you got a phone right when it was first released.

If you're talking about the roaming list - what tells the phone which towers to look for, and in what order - then dial *228, and select option 2. Takes a minute or so. Listen to the nice computer and do what it ...

You can also dial *22891 and that will update the software. Does the same as *228 option 2, just eliminates the need to press # 2.
