so true, I think some ppl who look at the numbers and does not have stock in these carriers get off just by seeing high numbers. Some just do not have a girl to do it for them so they rely 4 times a year on these numbers to reach mazimum "O" lol

Lots of normal people, actually. For example:

1) Peeps who own stock in the company

2) Customers who are smart enough to realize that if the carrier horserace is close, their company is a LOT more likely to offer better deals & more customer-oriented policies, than if their carrier is just blowing every one else away with ease

3) Peeps who just like a good horserace

Not really abnormal at all bro. 😎

I see you are either a NEWB or are really stupid.

This is a Verizon Wireless Forum. Not an NFL forum or the Lounge. People will post statistics in here all the time about Verizon because that is what the damn forum's title is moron. 😳

I personally love we are on top once again in Quarterly adds because I know my company has contributed alot of numbers to their quarter. Makes me happy to know I am selling a very highly rated and picked Cellular service.

Thanks for the info and postage Nextel!

Good day.

I always get a laugh from geeks who talks like such badass's in anonymous internet forums.

I see by your posts that you just sit back till you see something you don't like, then start name-calling, but never add much constructive to the forum. Even DKVZW has many nuggets of brilliance if you can wade through his rambling, but you are just a worthless loudmouth.

The vast majority of VZW reps on this forum are great and helpful folks. Unfortunately you give a bad name to all of them.

I know you wouldn't have the stones to call someone a moron to their face.

Look up the definition of the forum. Aren't you confusing it with a chat-room? I barely speak here too. But when one does speak up - please respect it, even if you disagree.

Didn't you actually start the name-calling by sayin' anyone that cared about the results was 'abnormal'? 😕

C'mon now, both y'all should chill.

Hey Shock!!!

My original post was meant to be tongue-in-cheek and definitely not meant to offend any of the good folks on this forum such as yourself. I hope it didn’t. However, please don’t compare me to pimple as I didn’t start calling people stupid or moron.

In any case I’ll take your advice and chill. I don’t plan on getting in a running flame war.

Thanx!

Not nessessarily, Cingular was close this quarter, unlike last quarter. They finished with 1.8. So yeah verizon beat them but they did not do it by much. A goal i am sure they will have for next quarter. And if they want to beat them badly like last quarter, they will be more likely to drop their plans.

First off, props to Verizon, that is a record-setting quarter for a US carrier. Nobody in the US has ever done 2 million net adds in a quarter before.

But I also notice that Cingular reported today getting 1.8 million net adds in the quarter, well above expectations. I was kinda scratchin' my head over this one, 'til I noticed this in the article:

Cingular said it added 1.8 million net new ...

That just anther example how desperate cingular is. Good info Shock. Once again cingulars numbers are magically inflated. Didn't they have to go back and recalculate Q2 numbers?

🤣 🤣

I'm honestly not sure what's goin' on there, guns. I'm hopin' that someone who's really into the numbers, like nextel18, can can come back wit' some further 411 on the matter.

An' yeah, Cing did have to restate some numbers a few months ago, 'cus their customer counts were inaccurate an' on the high side by like 150,000 customers or something. That was more like a total # of subscribers thing than a net adds thing, though.

cingular only had 636,000 subscribers directly the rest were from resale and prepaid.

hope that helps.

well i dont exactly know if those are 2 million under net direct subscribers, becuase they havent released the numbers in detail but will on june 26th.

i think they will get 1.95 million direct net adds and the rest being prepaid and wholesale/resale.

retail or postpaid are about 95 percent of their net adds.

Let me ask you something Nextel18.

By 680K direct:do you mean sold at (cingular owned) or (cingular owned and authorized retailers)?
...
nextel18

Jan 24, 2006, 5:46 PM
direct= usually has to deal with cingular and cingular owned (but not affiliates)

resellers and wholesale= usually companies who are affiliates and things of that nature.

hope that helps..

I guess i am still a little confused. So what would radio shack be considered for Cingular, now. Obviously they were nothing last Quarter.
...
nextel18

Jan 24, 2006, 6:45 PM
radio shack is nothing regardless lol.. they keep saying that the wireless industry is in trouble... radio shack usually tends to be towards wholesale but sometimes you count them as direct adds. it depends what channel and throw cingular on the label of if its a direct or indirect.

Great math. 😳 🙄

You claim to be a numbers guy but you can't even get 95% of 2 million right. It would be 1.9 million are direct if your percentage is right. 1.95 Million would represent 97.5% of their total net ads.

Hope this helps. 😁

I have heard before if you took away all prepaid subscriptions then Verizon would have more customers than cingular, so i guess Cingular padding their sales with prepaid acts from tracphone would make sense. I wonder if Verizon is going to take the same action with amp'd

i dont think the FCC and other regulators would allow them too becuase they are just under the spectrum cap and in many markets just grazing that cap also. so any merger or buyout by verizon wireless will make many divestitures which wouldnt be wise for them.

it is a good idea, but again the regulators wouldnt allow it.
