Question...I have a customer that is wanting to know if VZW in Ohio Market has backdoor numbers that they can leave a message for a VZW customer without calling thier phone. I told my customer I was not aware of any, unless you dial * 86 Send, enter in your passcode, press 2 to create a message and so on. You can also do it by doing the same as above, but instead of pressing 2, press 5 to restart the session, and enter the VZW number that way.

Can anyone please help me with this? He is a former Alltel customer, and he liked this feature with them.

It's very tricky with Verzion since they have the *86 and not an actual VM #. Go here:
http://www.bridog.net/cellular/voicemail.txt » and scroll down to the bottom and you will see a list of the backdoor numbers. You just dial that and you can access your VM or enter another cell # and leave them a message.

I do not see one for Ohio though. The one number I did try said it was no longer in service.

Maybe VZW is getting rid of that. I know that my back door # for Seattle works. Maybe if he had long distance he could use that #. I know that's kinda silly but I don't know of another way.

Just dial the 10 digit mobile phone number. When VM picks up press # to interupt the greeting. Should be business as usual after that. All *86 really does is dial the phone number.

I think the point was to be able to leave a message for someone without their phone ringing and them being able to answer it, ie I use it late at night while on call say around 2am when I want to leave a message but not wake the person (that leaves thier phone on all night)

Thats right. I used to be able to dial * at my greeting, and enter in a persons cellular number, but after this voicemail upgrade, I can not do that anymore.
