Can one use the phone as a dial up for Internet connection as part as the unlimited nights and weekends via USB or data cable or do you have to pay for ANY web service on the phone only like with ATT?

Does the $5 on the phone web fee cover all Internet data to the phone unlimited? (If so this creams Sprint's $15 charge)

Is the ETF prorated over the contract period?

Is there ever a charge for roaming within the home network system as represented via the maps on other than the Single Rate Plan? Sometimes one an be in an area of map indicated by solid coverage and still get a roaming signal. Even in the center a large metro area. Im guessing whenever the phone says roam...you are being charged .69 a minute, This is pretty scary and co...

Yes you can use your phone as a modem via the purchase of a data cable and software to do so. It uses your minutes only, no extra charges to do this. If you connect during off peak time than the usage will be free, if you use it during peak time it will count off your minutes accordingly.

The $5.00 internet charge is for mobile web, on the phone only, you do not need this feature to use the phone as a modem for your laptop. Mobile web also uses your minutes when you are connected, peak and off peak apply accordingly.

No the ETF is not prorated, no one does this and no one will unless it is made a law.

If the roaming indicator is on on your phone you will be charged roaming fees (.69/minute) Basically all that does is requi...

Actually Cingular & Centennial prorate their ETF. Cingular is, I believe $10 or $12 per month remaining on contract, something like that. At least, it is in the old Bellsouth Mobility areas.

Thats correct. Cingular prorates which is only a good thing if you are not satisfied. Otherwise its a moot point. but it does show a confidance in their service and a kind of guarentee of satisfaction.

Yikes. I did not know the forwarding feature used minutes. Ouch. (It does answer the question of the need for the cradle to do so with Cingular and the $3.00 a month add). Theres no reason to use it at home I suppose, just pick up the mobile!!!

The update is nice as Verizon builds out network.

If you do access your ISP in this way, (dialing a 7 or 10 digit #) it's transmitted as a voice call which is a very slow transmit rate, 14.4Kbps I think is max, unlike SPCS Vision which can be fooled into making a "data call" and used @ the full 144Kbps burst.

YEs but SPCS Vision is nearly as much or more per month then many dial up DSPs. I am using Sprint DSL at home. I wonder if there is a deal for both. I doubt it. It just seems data on a cell phone is not as good as on a laptop in terms of the LCD I would rather pay for airtime and use the notebook.
