My girlfriend and I are going to Verizon very soon but we have a small problem and it's not really a big deal. At this time, we have 2 separate tmobile accounts. However, when we move the Verizon, we've just decided to put it into her name but that poses a problem. I've been told, when porting, Old Service Provider information needs to match New Service Provider's information.
Just wonder what I can do to try and get this resolved. However, I work customer care for nextel and I've seen port ins happen with no problems with husbands accounts but porting number from wife's old service provider.
Sincerely,
Cephiros

I just had this situation the other day. What I had to do is port in 2 seperate accounts to Verizon in the information that matches to the current account. With that in mind, all information must match existing cellular providers information, or your port will be rejected.
So, what I am having to do, is after the new I2K billing system takes effect on June 14, 2004 in the Michigan market, I am having to combine the two accounts to one and then set them up on a share plan.
Hope this makes sense to you...good luck!

You can actually port-in accounts even if the person in front of you isn't the OSP's (old service provider) account holder. You can do this as long as they have the OSP account holder with them. All you need to do is notate the account stating that the OSP may not match the new account with VZW, and you need to notate the OSP's social as well so that the port center can call and confirm who is who. Sorry if that sounds confusing, but it is possible to port with into a different name, and that's how you do it.

That's what I thought because I do cusotmer care for Nextel. No laughing. I do port in requests all the time where the OSP is belonging to the wife and the nextel accont belongs to the husband. Made sure everything was correct in the port request, like account number, social, billing name and billing address. I've seen it sucessful but everytime I emailed Verizon care, they said I would not be able to port in my number. When I called Verizon Number Portabilty, they said I what exactly you said 85percent

Careful about divulging that kind of proprietary info VzWGIO. People's jobs get hurt 'cause of that stuff. Just lookin' out for ya! 😉

Very true, however that pretty much general information. I would be pretty stupid if I was giving out policy and processes that pretain directly to Nextel. Which I do not plan on doing.

Thank you for looking out for me. I was not aware that I was giving info out that I should not have. It did not even cross my mind. I was just trying to help, and the Verizon Wireless LNP brochures specifically state that all information must match up.
Sorry if I offended any other VZW employees for giving out the info. OOOPS!! 😲
