Reality check on the RAZR...

Not sure what I'm going to do.

Just spoke to a Verizon store, and they gave me the lowdown on the deal with the new V3c. The cost of the phone is $299, reduced by $100 with my NE2, and reduced by another $100 by a MIR. So, my final cost is $99. I'm almost curious enough to do this just to give myself a little comparison with my new Nokia 6256i, which is working just fine, by the way. However, I would be starting a new 2-year agreement with Verizon if I did, and since I got the Nok as a gift, I've been month to month since October 31, and I planned to keep it that way. I have no intention of going anywhere else, but I have no need to change my plan at all...the 800 minutes on the old plan for $59.99 national don't even get used, so an...

i dont understand what you are saying, if start a two year contract and get a razr for 99 bucks why would you have to change your plane at all? 😕

unless you are on an old family share plan, you take whatever plan is current at that price point, so he would bump up to 900 min for the same 59.99 and get the unlim night/weekend/in/no roam that is offered now.

Sorry for the confusion.

If I were to actually go to the store and upgrade legitimately to the RAZR, I would probably update my plan as well, even though it really isn't necessary to have the extra 100 minutes.

Make sense?

Yes that makes sense, i dont know i think a 99 dollar razr is just to great a deal to pass up. The call clarity on this thing is amazing, my e815 and nokia really take a back seat to the razr on call clarity. take advantage of the 15dayer. Dont like it switch back.

I agree w gunny I got the razr yesterday morning and the call clarity is amazing. For a long time I thought the razr would suck but to be honest w you I really like it! The reception is awesome compared the 8100 (6256i recpetion is better)I wish the BT was unlocked and the camera seems a little fuzzy but All in all I really like this ph. Also Moto. finally caught on and changed the charging ports so All in all I give Moto and Vzw alot of credit on this phone Great job!

OK, so should I get the RAZR instead of exchanging my 970 for the 9800? I'm all confused now.

No Shawn Just b/c I like the razr doesnt mean you will! I send maybe 50 txt msgs a day I do not like or use t9. I very rarely send or receive pix or flix msgs. Also Shawn if I didn't work in this industry Id probably carry a more basic ph. Or at least not as expensive. I use the latest ph to demo for customers and on average get a new ph every 2 months or so, but when you are carrying the lateset and greatest more customers want it, hence increasing my pay. My phs are an investment into my financial well being

Oh, I love the RAZR, trust me. I have the Cingular version. But, I use my Verizon phone for all of my multimedia needs (Pix, Flix, txt, etc...) so the lack of expandable memory pro...

i am in the same boat with my 8100, i think i am going to hold out for a bit. The razr just doesn't do it for me. It was hot a year ago when cingular first came out with it but i think i would miss my mini sd card. Plus i don't trust motos at all, especially when they come out with new models, i am going to waite a month and see how the razr turns out.

Well,

If you know you will stay with Verizon might as well get a $99 RAZR. You can just dump it on ebay if you must and make money.

I think I'll probably go ahead and give the RAZR the test drive. Interesting that the charging port has changed...to what, a barrel connector?

Thanks to all of you for your feedback. All in all, I think the information shared here on the Verizon Forum is top-drawer, and it seems it's because we have some very bright folks along the line here. Happy to be sharing some time with you.

Have a great weekend, everyone, and if you've got bad weather where you happen to be, in the words of the Eagles: "TAKE IT EASY"!!!

Ok, cool. I was worried they changed it from the GSM RAZR. Would mean our new one might be different. Damn MOTO has 4 different charger platforms right now.

it all boils down to if you want the razr or a new phone in general.

59.99 900 mins is the same price you pay now for 800 mins. so that'not a problem. another 2 year contact if yor not leaving no problem. so it rools down to DO YOU WANT THE RAZR OR NOT?

I've owned both phones (RAZR when I was with Cingular) and in my opinion the only thing better about the RAZR is it's looks (the "cool" factor). Be assured that with the RAZR being sold in Verizon stores the BT on it will be crippled where as your nokia 6256i is not.

If it wasn't for the crippling of BT and the address book designed by a 4 year old I probably would have waited for and purchased the Verizon RAZR instead of my 6256i cause it is a damn cool phone, but those two issues kept me away from it.
