Wait or Not

My dilema is this, I have a LX4400 that is broke. You can't hear unless I have my ear piece in, it goes into Analog whenever it wants to when I have a full digital signal, it also acts like it is searching sometimes when I push the send button.

I went to the VZW store and they saw all the problems and they said to call the insurance and go through them. Insurance as must of you know charges you 50.00 for the same phone, which is not bad. But with these new phone expected to come out soon I was debating on just saving my 50.00 and putting it towards the v710 or the a670. So my question is, should I wait? or go ahead and shell out the money through the insurance???

Well-

It depends on how long you can go without a phone. If you can get the replacement phone thru insurance pretty quickly, I'd say you should probably get it. That way, you won't have to grab the first of the new phones to come out. The Samsung A670 may end up being better than the 710. You're going to have to pay some bucks if you don't have the NE2 credit; might as well wait till you can get the better of the 2 ones you really want, and be able to try out both of them. Who knows how long it will really be before both of these phones come out.

I'd wait.

In the meantime try the following:

bring up the menu list - hit 0 - enter 000000
for the password.

than go to option 3 (force mode) and set it
to "cell only"

this will disable analog support but still allow cdma/pcs. I've got it set in this mode
for the exact reason you mention. out in malibu
there is digital (weak but it works) but it
switches to analog but i can't get a call out
on it.

using an ear bud isn't a big deal, i use one
most of the time anyhow.

this should get you by till the 710 comes out.

I would recommend calling the insurance company and at least asking some questions. From what I have heard - most people are not getting a 4400 back on an insurance claim. Unfortunately most people have been given a Motorola 720 instead. Maybe you will be lucky and they will offer you something else that is newer if they cannot provide you with another 4400. Just remember you can always say no if they offer you something you don't like.
