Hi guys, I just wanted to get the opinion of people who work for Verizon on how things go for Verison employees. I am currently in sales with Us Cellular, and hate to leave this company based on how well they treat us employees, and how great opps. ther are for advancement, however in about 6 months my fiancee will be attending a school in an area that my company is not a part of (Dallas TX), and I am going with her. I work in retail sales, and will be looking for a position of the same sorts. so, how do you like it? is pay decent?does the company empower you to do your job well? I hear good things so far, but dont know anyone who works for Verizon here in town, so please leave feedback! Thank you so much in advance!

i've been a sales rep for verizon wireless two and a half years. here's the scoop..

VZW use to pay their sales reps very generously. I made 65k last year and I didn't sell a whole lot.. this year the company raped the sales reps commission payout, and pissed off a lot of reps.

sales reps use to make a lot more than assistant managers, and the company realized this, then turned the pay around recently (the managers are payed hourly now) so that most reps in semi-busy stores are now getting payed less than assistants.

benefits are great which is the primary reason I've stuck around so long despite major commission cuts.. $8k a year for tuition, pre-payed.. med/dent/vision, 401k, etc..

if you can find a busy store to work in that...

I have been with VZW for 5 years. Not sure where 85% works for the company but in our area top sales reps still make more than asst managers for the most part. Also, raises are based on performance and are done in %'s (as in 5% of current salary for top end, 4% for average and 3% if you are not cutting it) so if you can talk your way into a decent starting base salary then your raises will be larger. B/C of the hurricane here what we make will be up drastically but a top end sales rep should make 50-60k depending on OT and Salary in an average year. This year top sales down here could push 100+. Also, as 85% said the benefits are better than any my friends have no matter what company they work for. The company is also great about transfers. ...
