Depends on the Market. I worked in the SoCal market for 7 years and they got rid of 1000 deposits about 4 or 5 years ago. But when I transfered to the south area they have 1000 deposit limit.. And there are a lot of people in Texas with bad credit

I see way too many with Alltel. With some ppl I feel bad for them but others, they crack me up with the remarks when I tell them. I remember my favorite was, "a $1000 dollar deposit, if I had a $1000 dollars I would buy Alltel."

I see atleast 3-7 a day. I have people just call and ask if we can run their credit. If you need to call in to a cell company and ask, then YES! you have a deposit.

VZW's highest deposit is 1000.00. I can't believe that there are people out there whose credit is sooo bad, that in order to buy a phone for 29.99, they have to put down a 1000.00 bucks just to get started. If they pay, then your looking at a fraud or a deact waiting to happen. 🙄

When I was in car sales I saw something that was halirious when it comes to credit. This couple won a BMW Z3. They had to pay the taxes before they could pick up the car. They didn't have the money to pay the taxes, so they applied for a loan. They could not get approved for a 2100 loan on a 32000 car! Talk about crap for credit. The old expression was the bank woulnd't even loan them money for the hubcap. You would think with all that collateral they could get approved!

Around here though, the highest mark for VZW is 400 per line. Of course I love those that OWE 600 bucks or more to VZW and want another line w/o paying that balance off first!

Hey ccanady, read the credit thing for alltel and I guess the $1000 deposit is basically for those with a previous cellular write off for over 500!!! They have earned that credit class so I guess I do not feel that bad. I mean a bankrupt person with no cellular write offs will get no more than a $500 deposit and more than likely a 300

Yeah, and then Cingular wonders why they have high churn.

I have seen quite a few people that come up 400 deposit with VZW and Cingular signs them up w/o any deposit. I call into VZW and hear, "Hummm...charge off to Sprint...crap credit score...400 bucks is valid." But Cingular signs them up! As an indirect since I take all the risk when signing someone up, I subsidize the phone not VZW, then I am glad it is more strict. Some of the ones I've seen get these deposits shouldn't have a post paid plan...they have no idea of airtime. I had a friend that he would constantly call me from his cell during peak time to just talk about nothing. I tried and tried to get him to either go with a higher airtime plan or quit calling as much. Could...

On the West coast we do not have a deposit over $400 in a corporate store anyway. I'm not sure how someone would come up as $1000. Are the freaking homeless and jobless?

East coast, a 400.00 deposit means you have non or lack of credit. after that... well, your looking at 1000.00 per line. Want 3 lines? 3000.00!!! oh, and don't forget the cost of the phones, and activation fees. I get tons a day. Calling with the TV blaring, kids screaming in the background, the person speaks Ebonics, and says that "The Bronx" is the state they live in... 🤣

see theres a reason for verizon to charge 1k deposits, for example i had this guy come in and came back with a g. so he got the service started, he came back to my store about 4 months later and look up his account for him and hes over due for the past 4 months. he went over his mins every month for the 4 months and he billed out over 350 for each of these months. so his due was about 1200. so thats why verizon needs to charge a g for some people cause they dont pay their bills on time.

🤣 i had a guy that knew his credit was fu*ked up really bad. but i talked him into running an app.

i ran the app and his credit was so bad it sent me into activating a pre-pay account 🤣

it wasn't even a delay in the process or nothing. as soon as i hit submit in erose it just sent me directly in to activating a pre-pay 😳 now that's funny how about it???

You can get away with a $400 deposit and not even give your SS#. People from other countries only pay a $400 deposit.

If your credit requires that crazy of a deposit ($1000), maybe you just don't need a cell phone.

If you can afford to pay a $1000 deposit maybe you should think about using that $1000 to start fixing your credit.
