hello everyone... i could use alittle of your expertise here... we live in northwest louisiana and my contract with at&t expires in just about a week. My wife and I were thinking about signing on with vzw but because of the "sparse" looking coverage by the company in our state, we're not sure this would be a good move..just wondering if anyone out there could give us a clue as to how good the vzw coverage is, not only in louisiana but around the country as well... if we go with vzw, we would more than likely get a couple of tri mode phones, most likely the lg 4400b phones. We would appreciate any insight anyone out there could lend... If we don't go verizon, we may end up going with cingular... Look forward to hearing from you.

I haven't spent any time in the deep south, but I've used my phone all over the rest of the country over the past 4 yrs with my current job, both urban and remote locations, and I am still amazed at the places I can connect from. Many times I try to make a call while driving through the middle of nowhere, just to see if it will go through, and most of the time it does!
But the important thing is how the coverage is where YOU need it. There are plenty of people in these boards who don't have good coverage where they are, I'm sure you'll hear from them, also.

I don't live in LA, but do travel a lot, including many places in the south. I haven't had any trouble getting a digital signal anywhere except on a road in the middle of some mountains.

I looked at the coverage maps for AT&T and Verizon for Louisana. Seems Verizon does cover just about the whole state either directly, or thru other preferred digital carriers that are all included in the America's Choice plan. Even the local plan for LA includes LA and Alabama. The AT&T GSM covergage map of LA shows a very sparse coverage area in the entire state--and, as you know, eventually, AT&T will only offer GSM service, and no analog or TDMA.

You could try out the Verizon for 15 days and see how it works in your area. Just remember that i...

Since you mentioned Cingular as a potential carrier, you might want to check out the Cingular Nation plan, which features no roaming charges, and offers unlimited N&W and unlimited nationwide M2M. Of course, with any carrier, you will have areas where service may be problematic. Have your Cingular rep check questionable areas for you. We have tols available to check coverage prior to a commitment. And we also offer a 15 day trial period.

Hope this helps!

as a sales rep, i would choose the best service for you.. we do offer the worry-free gaurantee which means you have 15 days to try our service out and see if it benefits you.. we are rated the highest with nationwide coverage however, which is why we maintain almost twice as many customers as other carriers.. good luck!

here's a good source to read reviews of service in different areas...

i made the switch to verizon and couldn't be happier - yeah, they're more expensive than others, but the coverage is unbeatable and the customer service is great - no wait times and consistently knowledgable reps.
