Is Voicemail IN?

When you press the button to get your voicemail are you charged for that phone call -- does it go against your IN mins (free) or your peak/off peak mins (not free)?

Checking voicemail is NOT In...and yes, it does use airtime if you check during peak hours. Just check from a landline & don't worry about it! 😉

If you are out of your area, then sorry, better check from the mobile phone...all you have to do is dial your MTN (mobile telephone number), press # when your vm greeting picks up, enter pw as usual... 😕

I use other VZW customer's phone to check my VM. My wife and I both have VZW phones and we use each other's phone to check our VM. 🤣

You are still using minutes by doing it that way.

Yes you are using minutes...IN minutes. If they are both VZW phones. You call the number to the other one and when the voice mail kicks on you press # to listen to the voice mail. The only number you are dialing is another VZW number

😳 🙄

Anytime you call voicemail, no matter how you do it, it doesn't count as IN. What happens is you are actually calling the voicemail system, once you hit # you start using your peak minutes.

I think it's probably whatever system the rep is familiar with. I've heard the same thing too though. Apparently pretty much everything like EROES and NetAce were designed for Vision. I've heard they run much better on Vision than I2K... we'll see.

Calls started or ending in off-peak that are billed as off-peak for the entire call.

Basically in I2k if you start a call at peak times and it goes into off peak time the whole call is billed as off peak. Vision calls started in peak and going into off peak are billed for the peak mins and billed for off peak separately.

Span rates aren't available in Vision??? Great, I know what calls I'll be getting now 🙄 Yes, I2K is transitioning over to Vision in early 2006. Fine with me, some time off the phones for training! Just finished up with Customer Service Appreciation week...today's "gift" was a brief case...WHY? Can't complain, sure, it was free, but a briefcase?? I prefer the VZW blanket they gave us earlier in the week! 😁

I worked the Vzw onebill project so i did I2K east and west and Vision east and west at the same time. IMO Vision is much easier to work with but both system have thier advantages and disadvantages.

It sure does NOT!

Checking you VM from the phone itself is NOT "IN" calling! Normal peak/off peak times apply.

BUT,...if you check your VM from another VZW phone THAT would be "IN".

Checking your V Mail from another vzw phone would be considered an in call.

I changed my voicemail number from the original *86 to my cell number. Now wouldnt that be an "in" call since I am dialing a VZN number even though it happens to be my own number....I always thought that my Volce mail calls were in using the way I described above...your thoughts?

No. Calls into your own voice mail box during peak hours will always bill as peak minutes. It doesn't matter how you dial the call.

There are two reasons for this:

(1) IN-Calling is just another name for mobile-to-mobile. It means making a phone call from one Verizon Wireless phone to another Verizon Wireless phone. It doesn't mean calling your own number. If you are not calling another VZW phone number, it's not a mobile-to-mobile call. You're dialing into the voice mail network from your cell phone, and that's a billable call.

(2) VZW bills peak minutes for voice mail retrievals because they can. It's in the terms and conditions. It says: "IN Calling does not apply to calls to check your voice mail." There is no logical exp...
