When did it change that you cannot bill equipment to your account anymore?

👿 I called to to order the Broadband Access and they informed me that I must pay up front for the equipment and that I couldn't bill it to my account. I asked the telesales guy and he said it was alm ost a year ago that they stopped customers from billing equipment to their accounts. Is this true? Why would they do this? Thanks for the help. John.

I think one of the reasons may be that the company was getting burned by people charging stuff to their accounts and then never paying their bill. It sucks that everyone has to suffer for it, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

How about verizon rate the customers on their payment history, if you pay your bill on time all the time, then I would bet that they will pay a charge to the account. If a person is late off and on, then I would bet that there is a higher chance that the customer wont pay the bill...this way, everyone does not pay the price of those that do not pay. And on top of that, a customer would have to have a year of all payments on time to qualify for charging. It is a nice benefit to be able to add it to your bill and pay when the bill comes in.

How different is it to use a credit card, and then pay it when the credit card bill comes in. What's the difference?

I just bought another phone yesterday and charged it to my account! Either that guy didn't know how to do it, really thought you couldn't do it, or it's not available to you. Not sure.

the only people who can charge equp to account are business accounts and even they have to have 6 months of ontime full payment history.

Well, I don't have a business account and I have been late on payments before, so I don't know what to tell you.

I'm in the Philly area and I recently billed 2 Moto E815's to my account, at full retail price, so I don't know what your talking about. If VZW is anything like ATTWS was you are rated by your payment history so maybe you need to look at your payment history or when they are processing your payments. Or it could be that I have it setup that VZW takes my bill due automatically each month from my cc. The other thing is that maybe a CS rep cannot process a no payment equipment order. I ordered my 2 phones via my online account and I got them 3 days later. And I just did this about 3 weeks ago or so. Hope this helps.

I dunno if maybe it's a region by region basis. I know just 6 months ago our store billed to accounts, but word came down that we weren't allowed to.

I work in the philly region, and can tell you we aren't allowed to bill to consumer accounts at all. We'll make an exception for some business customers on occasion, but won't advertise it. I think in the last 3 months we might have billed something once. It is, as someone already pointed out, because the company got burned with a couple "bad apples". And to answer someone else's query as to why it isn't based on your payment history, its because it slows the process down without much gain to anybody. Think how much slower the line would move if we'd have to check every customers payment history for the last 12 months, they move slow enough as it is. And then it becomes a "He/She did it, why can't I do it??" and then you have to tell the cus...

i didnt read all the posts yet, so this may have been answered already. But i beleive if the order is under $200, you can bill your account. anything over has to go on cc or cash.
