2 years are up...time for a new phone

I am eligible for my $100 towards a new phone plus any mail-in rebates if I extend my service. Thus, I can pretty much have my choice of current phones for free, but I don't want to get the LG6000 just to have a newer camera phone come out weeks after I get the old version.

Do you guys have any suggestions on how long I should wait (my current phone sucks and I really want a new one)? Also, from recent history do newly released phones come with significant mail-in rebates?

Thanks for your help and I've enjoyed reading the discussion going on.

Got some bad news for you Josh, You can either buy a phone and use the rebate of use your $100 not both. I already tried. Plus you can only get the phones that are in the stores. I have spent the last three day trying to get the VX 4600 and they pretty much told me to go to hell.

I talked to customer service and they said that if I extend my service plan by two years I can get the same mail in rebates as someone who is signing up for new service.

When do you think the stores are going to get new phones?

That is true you will get the same mail rebates. But the way the new every two works is that; lets say the phone is 99.99 and has a 50.00 mail in rebate, your new every two will cover 49.99 and your out of pocket will be 50.00 and after the mail in rebate your cost will be zero (except sales tax)

Yeah, I totally understant that...I'm just wondering if waiting a couple of months to use my "new every two" will be worth the wait or if the new phones will be significantly more expensive than getting the current phone cams for essentially zero.

I'd wait a bit, untill the new round of camera phones are out, then you can get one of those if you want, or a phone that's out now will be cheaper at that time.

Of course they will be more expensive. The Moto V710 or V810 will be at least 200-250 considering all the features.

Same situation as you man. I have my 2 years up this month. But im holding off for the Motorola V710 or the Motorola V810. V810 is coming out late this month and the V710 is coming out next month. Much better phones then the current VG camera phone. I'm holding off so I dont get jealous once these new ones come out. Although verizon has a 15 day trial, so you could always buy one and return it when the new ones come out. But i'd wait. I called VZ and told them to extend it till i find a phone that I like.

Good luck

Hang on as long as you can---However, last December VW recently changed its policy to allow the New Every Two ($100 credit) to be good ONLY for 6 months after expiration, so keep that in mind.
