Phones with GIN are contracually obligated (as far as i know) to have the OBEX disabled. As long as the phone doesnt have GIN, OBEX isnt a problem.
Which Verizon cell phones (not PDA's) presently have OBEX, that works like a Cingular phone?
My wife and I were looking at the new Lexus and Prius and neither will integrate with any Verizon phone, they say.
Why does GIN need to get in the way of auto safety? Why can't the GIN be protected somehow?

I read somewhere on howardforums.com that explained how to uncripple bluetooth. You had to have a data cable and software to do it though. you might want to look into this!!!
It's only a partial fix for OBEX and does not allow pushing (OPP) of files from the phone to a car or another device, like the way a Cingular branded phone works.
So there are still problems transfering the phonebook to a car if you have Verizon as your favorite carrier.
