Warrenty replacement V710?

My V710 is really retarded. It has several issues. First of all, it will send me the same text message over and over every 2 or 3 minutes until I leave it off for a couple of hours. During this time, it won't let me send or recieve messages. Second, sometimes it drops a call and then won't let me recieve or make calls until I turn my phone off for a few hours (which is irritating since this is my only phone). Third, and this one is new, the phone will freeze, turn black, go to no service, and then go to the home screen. So if you are text messaging, then you lose everything. I called in and was directed to a store. Went to a store and he called in and said I had to go to a corporate store, and since there are only two in the entire state, th...

Call customer service. *611 and tell them your situation. Explain that you live a great distance from a retail store. If it have been less than 30 days since you purchased your 710 then you will be in-titled to a new replacement if it is over 30 days then you will be sent a refurbished unit. They can ship the appropriate replacement to you. But they may not be able to get the 710. You may need to ask the rep if they can substitute the 815. Good Luck!

Hey shscaptain.

You work in customer service. You know that to get the absolute best answer is to be really nice to the CS rep. Explain to them the entire situation. Most likely they will send you a refurbished unit. Tell them that you don't trust a refurbished unit. They might be able to send you a fresh one.

DO NOT ask for the Motorola E815!!! Motorola issued a recall on the unit. Apparently Moto forgot to add a software to the E815.

That's helpful. I will try later tonight to see what they can do. It's just really frustrating when it's your only phone. I should have picked the LG...lol.

I really don't know what happened to motorola. They really took a huge nosedive into the crapper with their quality of their low to mid range phones. Even some of their higher end phones are awful.

All the entry level motos for Cingular are crap. ALL the motos for VZW are crap.

Maybe.. maybe you could ask if you could get a LG series phone instead? Tell them you really use the bluetooth headset alot.. see if you can get the LG-VX8100. Tell them your motorola experience has been just plain awful. Even if there is a slight price difference, offer to pay it.. but only if the rep brings it up.

The E815 was recalled temporarily because the VCAST software was not installed. That issue was resolved within days. From everything I have heard, the E815 is a great phone.

Hint: VZW is having problems keeping the refurbished v710 in stock. Hmmm...that has to tell you something. VZW has a stock of refurbished phones and they have sent out so many replacements that the replacements are depleted from inventory.
The V265 Motorola is crap too, speaker phone goes out on people.
Lots of people believe in Motorola they just seem to have slipped in quality control over the past few years.

I understand that they have had issues with both of these phones. I didn't say anything about the V710 or the V265. I have had limited dealings with both of these phones and from what dealings I have had, these seem to be good phone, but I can't speak for everyone. So next time you want to come back with smarta** "Hint:" comments, read the post first or go back to watching cars go around in circles. I will never understand the whole NASCAR craze.

Sounds like the problems qualify under the DOA policy so if it did happen to be within 30 days they would get a new unit. Also if the V710 wasn't available they would get a substitute. please correct me if I'm mistaken

The problem with getting the same text message repeatedly is a network issue. Sometimes a message will get stuck on it's way to you and you'll keep getting it over and over. I've talked to a few people this has happened to.

As for it dropping calls and then not letting you make calls... Make sure you are turning the phone off for a few hours every day or two. I've had this problem with many cells phones I've owned over the years because I wouldn't turn it off for weeks. Overtime the performance of the phone would deteriorate. This may also be causing your last problem as well.

As far at the replacement of the phone... I'd like to think I'm a pretty nice CSR and really bend the rules for people when they are nice about things. Even the...

I wouldn't mind getting a v710 again, but I don't want a refurbished phone. I just hate the idea. I know how it goes with changing phones, and I don't mind staying with v710, but I don't know what to do with all these problems. As for the text problem being network. I've called twice and while they said that it was the network at first, after looking at my account or phone they say that it isn't the network, it's a glich in the phone.

Unfortunately you will get a refurb if they have the V710 available. Otherwise you'll get a new phone and if you have to change brands, they'll also replace your accessories that aren't compatible with the new phone. If I'm wrong on this, someone please correct me.

A new phone of the same brand would be offered so the accessories would be compatible. If you then choose to get a different brand, that's your doing and will have to replace any extras.

I knew they will get a new phone of the same brand if possible, but what if you're on the V710 or the E815? The equivalent would have to be the LG 8000 or 8100, right? How would that work?

Not trying to argue the point, just getting clarification. Looked in the M&P for the substitution for the V710 and there isn't one listed.

Amen to that...I have a Sam 670 and haven't had one single problem with it. I get that some people just get defective phones but i think a lot of people don't know how to treat a cell phone. If i'm gonna pay money for something I'm gonna take care of it...I've seen people come in with their phones covered in dirt or falling apart because they've dropped it so many times, then wonder why it doesn't work. but anyway

I miss the old Panasonic Duramax I had years ago with AT&T. I dropped it in a parking lot where it spent the night getting rained on and driven over and still worked the next morning when I found it. Just a little spot on the LCD. That was a great phone. I know how to treat a phone, I'm just clumsy and naturally abusive to my phones. My T720 has managed to survive though.

Well all these problems started right after the 14 day mark...so I doubt that it is me abusing the phone. The guy said in the store that there was a glich like a computer virus and they had to fix that particular problem...unfortunally I had to go into a store to do that. And once again I'm in no mans land...south dakota

Sounds like technology hates you. Lol. Sorry, I guess it's not that funny. Just had those days myself. Try removing the battery with the phone turned on. My phone does that sometimes and this seems to work. Good luck.
