We have 48 million plus customers, there may be a wait.

Remember when McDonalds listed how many billion hamburgers that they had served on their signs? We need a similar sign in our stores. Customer get aggravated when they have to wait, 30 to 45 minutes is not uncommon in our store. And we're a large store with usually 4 or 5 sales people working. But employees have to take a lunch sometime. I explain to the customers that when it is their turn they will be given all the time that they require to meet their every need. I then ask them, you want the same focused attention when its your turn with a sales person right?

To make it easier, maybe have the customers make appointments with sales people at the store?

Glad I switched to Cingular, where I didn't have to wait at all, and I got the attention deserved.

That's because everybody is going to Verizon, of course there's no wait at Cingular...

I stopped by a Cingular store a few weeks ago. There were two people working there, helping the same customer. Sad, especially since it was the middle of a Saturday

Even sadder because Verizon couldn't keep us as customers! Cingular is providing usable SERVICE. I thought that's what I was paying for.

I work at a Cingular store and many times through out the day there can be a wait of 40 minutes. We have a customer sign in sheet to make sure people do not lose their place in line, and people still freak out!

A 40 minute wait for sales??? Wow, that seems a little extensive, because they dont have on-site tech for the phones right?

Dont you just hate it in a verizon store when there are like 8 sales people and 1 tech support guy and those 8 sales people are just sitting around laughing at the people that have to wait forever for service?

I once had to wait 2 hours, but it was at a mall, so they let you leave and come back.

well, to the people that dont want to wait, call CSR and get your thing done. If you can wait a couple of days for that new phone, then call in, you can have it done in 20 minutes or less and you dont have to drive to the store. If I dont need a phone right this moment, I just call and have one sent to me, it is a lot easier, and you dont have to wait an hour in line for your turn.

So to help out the store employees and save some time, just call in and get your phone sent to you, your fellow store employees will thank you for that, as you can see, they are busy and need a break, they say they cant handle the volume that they are getting right now.

Waiting customers = Lost sales

People that wait are people that hate...

If you can't handle the flow of customers that normally visit your store, Verizon isn't managing very well or you aren't very efficient at your jobs.

I can turn out Prescriptions to a customer in under 5 minutes and I also can counsel them on there condition and what the medication is for in that time. I deal with things that can kill people and get it done much faster and more efficient. I also have to know alot more about vastly larger subject base. You know how many medications are out there??

I am saying that customers don't like to wait. I completely understand the breaks, lunches, days off. I am saying that VZW should get a few more employees at your store if the usual customer flow yields a 30-45 minute wait.

Don't tell me you haven't gotten upset at a restaurant when you had to wait 30 minutes for your meal after you ordered it, or had to wait for an extended period for the waitress to even come to the table for your order. Or, have you been on hold while calling your cable/satellite provider for over 10 minutes...frustrating to say the least.

I would love to hire more staff at the store. The corporate managers that make a 6 figure salary dictate how many sales people that are allowed to be hired. So when customers complain about having to wait they often say "you should hire more help". And I reply, "I've hired all that I am allowed" and I ask them to go to the VZW website and send an email to corporate. Some customers are understanding, but most are not. I can only do so much, my hands are tied.

That is what big business is about. Move up the corporate ladder and forget about the little guys doing the grunt work. Squeeze as much work out of the least paid person in the chain while I get my large paychecks for doing less work...

Big business tends to forget who really keeps them running....All of the little guys!!!

I believe I stated that if the "normal" flow of customers results in wait times of 30-45 minutes, then, something is wrong. Sporadic customer backups can be expected. From what the gentleman first stated, he made it sound like a 30-45 minute wait was a standard thing and people just had to deal with it.

Most phone users calling customer service have no idea how to operate 3/4 of basic functions of their phones. It amazing how many calls we get from people for questions like:

How do I take my phone off manner mode?
I locked my phone?
How do I store a number in the phone?

Many people don't how to get into the menus, let alone, knowing what the softkeys do on the phones. People are just lazy, and don't read the owners manual. Verizon does not make the phones, we provide the service. $22 million a month out West every month in costs us as a company, at $8-$9 call into customer service.

Wonder how many calls Direct TV gets on how to operate their remotes?

What a sorry excuse -- the real issue here is that if customers are waiting 30 - 45 minutes, all that means is that there is poor store management. A good manager knows when the busy periods occur and should schedule the number of employees accordingly.

My local store always has lines and it is this that has driven me to telesales. When I'm looking for new equipment or to add lines, I go to the store to get some hands on. (I've done my research, so I don't need to bother with a sales person.) When I've made my decision, I call telesales and place the order. I refuse to wait more than 10 minutes to give someone my money.

BTW, don't forget that customers usually have to wait twice - once in the showroom and then again to actually pick u...
