Was the E815 NOT a national release?

I'm in the capital-district of NY, in the Eastern part of the state 1/2 way between NYC and and the USA/Canada border for those that don't know geography. I was in my local store today, after I was told on the phone that the E815 was available through the warehouse, and they told me they had no in-store date for it yet. Apparently (this from another conversation last week) EV-DO isn't available here just yet, but it is in areas South, East and West of us such as NYC, Syracuse, Rochester, Hartford.

My local Circuit City ad had the E815 in it, and it shows on the site when I specify my Zip code, so it SHOULD be available in my area. The person in the store at the moment had no clue about the phone.

On another note, I plan on orderin...

Just get them all at your local VZW location. Don't get the 265 it gets returned a lot.

Is there another phone you suggest? The 265 is for someone that doesn't use the phone A LOT. They need a tri-mode though becuase they do a lot of traveling. Looking at cost as a factor also, that's why we were looking at the 265, it's free.

The problem with getting everything in-store is that they have NO idea when they're getting the phone I want, apparently the July 5 release date was news to them and they're a corporate store and repair center.

Called my local store again today. They have access to the phone through the warehouse and say I CAN order it in the store and they'll ship it to me at home. I'll be visiting Friday to make my plan and phone upgrades.

Anyone know how long an order like that usually takes to arrive? I'll be visiting the store in the evening due to work schedule, so it likely wouldn't even ship until Monday. I go on vacation the following Sat...

Someone at my local store has their head up their a**. Go there, on the presumption that I can order the phone. Nope, warehouse says "0" in stock, can't order it. This is now trip TWO I've made there after being told I could get this thing. The guy I talked to today said the release is Monday (must be a regional thing, not national like originally expected), they should have more phones then, or at least more info. He's gonna call me and let me know...

I just called 2 verizon stores today to look for E815 and was told that verizon is not shipping them anymore because something is wrong with the software from Motorola. I am in NC and don't know if this is true. Am trying to find out from several different forums. Nothing on Motorola forum about it though

The E815 should be available in stores. There was a software glitch in some of the phones there were shipped out. Motorola will be sending VZW a software update sometime this week to all store locations.

Got mine in the same place as you (finally!) The corp. store in Clifton Park didn't have any and didn't knw when they'd be getting any (not released to them), the warehouse showed none in stock so they couldn't order it.

The guy at Circuit City had 2 left when I got there, when I left he had none, one had a DOA key on the keypad. So far so good, we'll see how tomorrow is at work, but the signal strength seems better than my T730 already, so i may get signal where I couldn't before.

tourman, did yours have the V-cast software on it? Not that it matters for us at the moment since we don't have the service in this area yet. Mine doesn't. He also didn't have any holsters, so I went with the leather case. Who did you talk to there? I...
