upgrade question for VZW reps

I have the Droid Pro. Not a bad phone but didn't grow on me. I'll sell it to anyone here if they want it. PS - in great condition.

Anyway, I had signed a 1 year agreement just before they axed that trend and my upgrade is this Dec. I would like a new phone because the DP isn't doing it for me. So I called VZW and the rep would allow me to upgrade early for a 2-yr agreement which is spectacular. However, I asked her about upgrading to an iPhone and she said that the iPhone is the only exception to upgrading early. Meaning I could upgrade to any other phone other than that one. Is this true? If so, then why? Is there a way to get around this or would I have to wait until Dec for this? Also, is the Bionic worth the $300?

Thanks in advan...

not sure where you live but I saw the Bionic for $229 at hhgregg but they are not nationwide. Radio shack also had the $100 off any phone when they brought Verizon back, not sure if they are still running it.

For me
Iphone 4s no 4g= FAIL

I would get the Bionic or wait for the vigor or nexus.

1) It is true.
2) Verizon sold its soul to Apple to carry the iphone, so Aple is good enough to dictate how and when Verizon is allowed to give you an upgrade to their phone.
3) You won't find a manager or supervisor with a lick of sense that will give you that upgrade early for the iphone. If they did, they might as well come home with you and live in your bathroom, as they might find themselves unemployed very soon for giving you that upgrade.
4) The Bionic is NOT worth $300. Best phone out there right now, but Motorola feels their product is much too good to be sold for less than $300, at least uuntil the next best thing. Very typical of them.

Haha! The last thing I want is someone living in my bathroom.

The hard thing is that there are a ton of android phones out there now with every manufacturer making one. Android is so watered out with very few "good" phones out. But of course the prices get jacked up for phones such as the Bionic. However, they aren't going to be any more special than the 100 (number used loosely of course) new 4G phones coming in the next month or so. It's hard to decide what I am going to be "engaged" to for the next 20 months. I know I can always break off an engagement but it's always going to cost me. So who knows.

You can spend your money where you want, but my new rule for Androids is to buy the best phone out there that has been on the market for more than three months.

Right now, that's the HTC Thunderbolt.

I'm done beta testing fresh hardware and "guessing" which handsets are going to have the best 3rd party developer support.

I'd say Droid Charge over the Thunderbolt. The Charge gets way better battery life and I've seen lots less issues with it.

and I would say neither as they are both end of life and their replacements are basically in route as we speak.

vigor/nexus/bionic

I am less worried about the software issues as these are all now 2nd generation 4g devices. Look at the bionic, they learned and put a 1735mAh battery in it for the very reason that 4g sucks the life out of the phone.

all good to know. this is the one thing about android devices that i dont like. it is almost like buying a football jersey of a player who gets traded a week later. you are excited to have when its is relevant but once its out, its old news. people say all the time "if i waited two more months id have "this" phone". apple is good for that release one new device/year. at least when an upgrade comes, there has only been one generation you missed on. unlike androids which new devices are seen as frequent as any kardashian in the tabloids. pretty annoying.

i guess bottom line, i could upgrade early and get a bionic and love it for 4-5 months with dealing with those dang motorola/android software glitches. OR i could wait two months and get a...

what are your thoughts?

Your problem is obvious, and I can't help you.

It's only as big as your Y-chromosome made it.

Sorry.
