Yes, you can transfer your number from your current carrier, per the new law that went into effect recently. Verizon's service is great in every city I've been to.
As to what phone? I'm sure you'll get several different answers here.
If you want a camera phone, the LG VX6000 is probably the one. If you really want a speakerphone, the LG VX4500 might be the one; but you can't really use it in the car as the person you talk to will hear too much noise.
The LG_VX4400 and Samsung A530 are very highly rated as to reception and sound quality.
Just a few weeks ago, I opted for the Motorola T730 after testing a few other models. I really like the sound quality, nice style, and size. I've had no trouble at all with any static, lack of signa...

cman32589:

Goto verizonwireless.com, logonto VZServe and there is an option under the account for an ESN Change, type in the new esn, and do a *228 option one, and you should be good to go.

are you completely positive that putting the esn of the new phone in will put the service on that phone, and i looked on the chip of my current phone, and the esn is not specifically marked how do i know which one it is?

the esn for the vx6000 is located behind the battery just above the barcode on the phone. but you may want to go into a store to see if an esn change or a phone upgrade is right for you. if you are eligible for an upgrade the cost is less. plus you dont have to wait for your phone in the mail. 🙂

Sure, stop in any store- ESN changes are free of charge. The only problem would be whether or not the account is under your name. If you aren't the account holder or listed specifically with full access to the account, the reps aren't supposed to do it for you.

I see--you're getting the VX6000, and want to transfer your current number to that. You sure can. You can do that via a phone call to Verizon. They will just register you're new phone and serial number, and discontue your old phone. (You can also go into the store if you want, but it's easier to just do it over the phone.)

I've done that several times. I got a new phone, and transferred my no. to the new phone. I gave my old phone to a friend who used it to sign up for prepaid service.
