verizon's PTT

I know verizon takes forever to get new phones, but does anyone know of any new PTT phones, or how good the PTT service is? Everyone I talked to says it sucks next to sprint's ready link, and even further behind nextel's direct connect. Should I wait around for verizon to get up to par, or go with sprint or nextel if want walkie talkie feature?

From what I understand the next VZW PTT phone is a samsung unit, but they are delaying it's launch until the national roll out of 1X-VDO this summer, the current system sucks so bad every one that I've sold has been returned for a std vzw phone or they switched to Sprint's ready-link service, which I find just as fast as nextel once the call connects, and it sounds a ton better. I think going to sprint would be better than nextel for the larger svc area and more up to date phones.

You are right, at our radioshack we don't sell the verizon ptt anymore because sprints is so much better. Way better phones for the same price or cheaper. And sprint compared to nextel, sprints call quality is twice as good and much clearer

Don't wait for Verizon to get up to par...that could take a while. Sprint's push to talk service is supposedly reliable, but I'd go with Nextel. The time I spent with them was well rewarded...never had a problem with either their cell coverage or push to talk service.
