I would assume that since non of Verizon current and former employees aren't answering my question,my conclusion is, don't buy this phone, or am I wrong?

Please don't assume that. Sometimes it just takes a bit to get a response. People here are generally very helpful. I could also be that no one has an opinion one way or another.

From a customer service position I have only seen one return since release and that was due to the device not being right for the person. It is a good bridge between smartphone and feature phone though. Especially if you have wireless in your house. My personal opinion based on my perspective is that this is a pretty solid phone. I just recommend doing much of you tinkering in the first week or so so that you can return it If it isn't a phone she likes to use.

Since you work in customer service could you tell me what sort of track record the LG Ally has? It's been out for quite a while. But I've only had the Ally for 5wks. So far, no complaints. But 5wks isn't very long.

With the Ally I have had a mixed bag. General troubleshooting usually solves most of the problems. Power cycling, screen freezing, sticky keys, or non responsive if laggy touch screen. Nothing is too terribly common. I've seen a lot of people dislike it or say it has too many dropped calls but most of these things are flukes or tied to the area they live in.

Those sorts of things I can deal with. But the touchscreen acting wacky while charging or the touchscreen being completly non responsive like what I went through with the Moto Droid I can't deal with.

I have only had the Ally for 5wks. Time will tell. So far so good. Nothing major.

Thank you for your response & feedback.

Btw, I'm curious, do you think Vzn will get an LTE enabled Samsung Epic? Nice 5-row keyboard & beautiful Super AMOLED screen. I want an LTE-equiped 700mhz packing Samsung Epic!
So do you think there's any chance of Vzn getting an LTE Samsung Epic?

We have had no issues with it. It's a good phone. I don't really recall any returns off the top of my head.

What about the LG Ally? I've only had mine for 5wks, not long. But the Ally has been out for a while. What sort of track record does the LG Ally have?

So far, I am having a much, much better experience with the LG Ally than I did with the Motorola Droid!

That's shocking. I think the Ally is junk personally! Honestly all the first generation of Android devices such as the Ally and Eris are pretty bad. They don't have enough memory and don't allow very many apps to be installed and run smoothly and are terribly slow. I've seen nothing but issues with the Ally. The first Droid was decent in my experience but none of them compare to the Droids out today.

I definetly agree w/u that the Ally has way,way too little internal memory. But didn't the Eris come out before the Ally?

But one huge problem I had with the Moto Droid was that the touch screen would act wacky while it's plugged in charging, the Ally works just fine while it's plugged in.

I do have an unused line on my acct that is up for an upgrade in November this year. I want a qwerty slider with dual-core processors, hopefully no less than 1GB of internal memory, either Super AMOLED or Super LCD, and a BETTER than 1500mah batter.

You should wait until you get all your lines out of contract and make a free agent decision. I thought Sprint was on your radar?

Sure, Sprint is appealing. Tmo is also appealing for their 42mb/s HSPA network.

Vzn will definetly influence my decision when they !!finally!! announce their LTE smartphone plans. But I definetly think Verizon overhypes themselves.

Yeah the Ally did come after the Eris but the Ally was a more "cheap" entry level device as far as specs go. I can't believe they are still trying to sell that thing. We only sold one in our store the whole time it was out and that person has went through several of them.

I never heard of that issue with the Droid. It's something I wouldn't even ever notice. I hardly ever use my phone while charging. It charges every night and I use it during the day! lol

What problems did this customer have with their Ally?

I'm honestly not sure off the top of my head. I do know she's had a terrible time with memory, but the replacements were for other reasons.

She hardly has any apps installed, Facebook and one or two others. The phone was basically full and she had to remove Facebook and add it back a few months ago just to free up space and be able to make the phone function properly.

You've been a broken record about how the moto droid sucks. What problems did you have other than the screen going wacky while its charging?

The screen thing is rare and usually due to damage done to the charging port. I know because I have the same problem on my r2droid. It only started happening after the charger was yanked violently out of the phone.

Did you get a replacement droid? Did you try an extended battery? Did u do a hard reset?

I did all those things except an extended battery.

Hey, all I can say is the same problem doesn't occur with the LG Ally after having it for 5wks.

Eventually I couldn't even unlock the screen! That's how fk'd up the touchscreen was. And that wasn't even while it was plugged in.

My roommate has had the LG Cosmos for 2 months, and he has no complaints. But he's an old man and isn't very picky.
