Any plain vanilla flip phones?

I will be eligible for NE2 in less than 2 months, so my question is, is Verizon coming out with plain vanilla flip phones or should I wait for LTE? My wife does not want any smart phones. Thanks for your help.

You practically asked two questions here. Get a basic flip phone makes sense, but if by "wait for LTE" you mean a flip phone, I doubt you'd see an LTE flip phone for about four years or more (unless the flip is also a smartphone).

Having LTE on a basic flip phone is about like having rocket boosters on a bicycle, at least at this point. Once LTE is being used for VOIP calling, then it will make perfect sense, but that's years away. LTE phones for the next five years will most likely be smartphones. At this point, LTE is about email, web, and data SPEED. Even an LTE smartphone will still be using 2G/3G technology for voice calls - same as a plain vanilla flip phone over the past six years.

Thanks for your reply. I guess is time to convince my wife to get a smart phone, or just keep the one she has. Thanks, again.

In four years, a basic flip phone won't be much different from what you can buy today. If you onl...

Got it. My wife only uses for phone calls. I will most likely graduate to smartphone and I am leaning towards Android phone. As per Verizon this will be my last NE2, but I think I got 6 months to take advantage.
Thanks, You have been very helpful.

I second that. It wasn't the highest profit device out there, but the rebate free price+high quality phone means a lot of those people holding onto razr's and the like finally got a new phone.
