Upgrade Questions

Ready for a new every two upgrade here in a few days. I currently own a BB curve 8330, I use it for two email accounts, txt, and occasionaly surfing. I have two questions.

1. What does new every two give me? I have heard $50 off a phone and $100 off a phone. I am looking to upgrade to another smartphone either the BB Bold or a Droid if that makes any difference.

2. Do I go or do I stay with a BB? Really liking the Droid X a friend of mine has. Also interested in the Pro or even the R2D2 Droid.

Thanks for any help.

here are my thoughts

1. doing an every two for upgrade is fine for people who do not obsess over phones unlike most people in this forum. only because something better comes out every 4 months. but if you are trying to save a few more bucks, then every two should be the way to go. the discount is more with a new two year. varies phone to phone. BB hasnt come out with anything in verizon that will turn heads and most high end android phones are the wave of the future. you can do more with android...

2. if you can wait another month, another wave of new phones will be on their way. could be worth seeing. or you get a phone now and return it in 30 days if something better comes out. Droid X and Incredible are the two best phones VZW sell...

A New Every Two credit is for lines of $34.99 or higher. So if you're a single line or a primary line on a family share plan, and it's been at least 20 month, you'll get a NE2 credit. It could be either $100, $50, or $30 off. Years ago they were all $100. Then everything below $79.99 went to $50, while $79.99 and higher remained $100. A few years after that they $79.99 and higher went to $50 and everything below went to $30, which are the current levels. So it's going to depend on what price point your line falls under, and how long since your last upgrade as to which place you'll fall. You could get lucky and get $100 on a lower plan this last time, or if your last upgrade was only 20 months ago or so it'll probably be one of the low...

I would say BB Bold or Droid Pro. It sounds like you prefer the physical keyboard. Also, BB OS 6 will be out soon (recently released for Sprint CDMA handsets) and the Bold will get that. Go check out a BB Torch on AT&T to see if you like the OS enhancements. If you do I would stick with BB. Email is still better and if a physical keyboard is what you desire the Bold cannot be beat.

Thanks guys. I like the pros and cons that I have been given. Sounds like more are out there for the droid than the bb.

I guess I could fill in some gaps that may help on some of the questions. I got the curve when we were still alltel so the phone is an alltel one. I have three lines mine is the primary and the only smartphone on the plan. It is an old alltel plan as well. I called the local VZW dealer and they informed me that I do have to wait until the full two year date approaches to get my new every two.

He also said that the NET deal only waives the $20 activation fee and will only give me $30 off toward a new phone.

Like you guys have figured I am not into the phones as most on this board but I know where to come whe...

As others have said there hasn't been a lot of changes for the BB at VZW, but if is an option I too would reccomend the Droid Pro. Kinda the best of both worlds.

One could state that there really hasn't been a lot of change for BB on any carrier, even those few devices running BB 6.0.

Thanks, that's kinda what I am leaning toward. I really like the X and this place still has the R2D2 droid, which interests me quite a bit as an old star wars fan. Guess we'll see when I get there.
