...data plans were not even mandatory on smartphones? Somewhere there is a list of older smartphones that one can activate with a Pay per use data feature. I think the Centro is the last one. If I can find an extended battery for mt XV6900, I think I will activate it on my voice line.

Those were the days. I remember being excited about paying $45/mo for something that did perhaps 10% of what my phone does today. And I could hard sync with my computer! Woot!

No doubt. When the $29.99 Email and Web plan launched we were grateful that great and mighty Verizon was allowing us to save $15 dollars on web browsing. I remember initially it was not offered on all handsets and in the back of my mind I was not sure how long it would last.

I was elated to learn that my Samsung i760 was one of the few that could get the new plan. I quickly changed to it. I lost Wireless Sync, but that was one of the first that started to have good on-device email. Not that I used my email that much back then.

It's amazing really, when you compare today with just two or three years ago. For $45 a month I could hope that enough of a web site would show up on screen to make it functional. Now, an entire website practically shows up on my screen. I recall having to leave the "omit pictures" setting on to hopefully make browsing faster and not rendered improperly. Now, my biggest complaint is how long it takes my Incredible to load a Flash video as compared to the rest of the page.

Man! I remember the first time I used my Motorola 270C as a modem 14.4 and I was grinning ear to ear! 🤣

I don't have flash loaded on my Moto Droid, for 2 reasons, 12mb's is way, way too large of a file to not be able to store to sd card, and the second reason is web pages take way, way longer to load .

Flash really isn't all that important to me anyway.

I'd be content if clicking on it would drop into a video playing app, as it sometimes does with YouTube. It's much cleaner than trying to watch it in the web browser.

people went crazy over camera flip phones? They cost 150 bucks on average back then.

I also remember when I first got a cellular phone that I had a bar phone, while everyone else sported a clam shell phone because it was the in thing.

And of course, you gotta love the era when the RAZR phone was king. That of course stopped in 2007 with the iPhone.

So many eras so many memories!

I remember how freaking awesome it was when my new Nokia bar phone got a camera. I was beside myself.

I secretly kept that phone in my pocket for most of a year after getting my job with Verizon. It was still under contract, and I couldn't convince AT&T(WS) to let me out of my contract.

Oh, yeah. I worked at ATTWS for a year and refused to cancel my Alltel phone. (Timeport 270c). I only used my AT&T phone at work even though it was free or whatever. I never gave the number out to friends. Of course, it was printed on my business cards so only customers called me on it. It was no loss to give it back to them when I went to work for VZW.
