Okay so a friend of mines who works for a Verizon kiosk in a Sam's club is telling me when I get my phone if I have any issues with it Verizon corp stores wont assist cause I didn't purchase from them...Is there any truth to this?
I cant wait it was shipped out yesterday the 21st
Thanks

Absolutely false.
If that were true, your friend would be busy helping all the customers he sold phones too, since the Verizon store wouldn't be helping them, either. At least 25% of Verizon's business comes from indirect stores. That'd be a lot of people to treat like crap.
The only thing you may run into is a lack of enthusiasm for helping you with initial setup or questions, but you'd get that any time you walk into a store with your phone already purchased. Also, if you have to return the phone you'll have to go through Amazon.
Otherwise, issues with your phone you go to the store. Them nut helping you is a myth. Just like the myth about indirects not helping you, either. It was a sales tactic to try to scare people away from b...

Good thanks for setting me straight Epik. As always I can rely on you for the correct info. Any suggestions on what apps to definately get when the Droid X hits my fat hands later in the week?
Thanks Again

Pulse Reader (Free): RSS compiler for up to 20 different Feeds. Auto-formats the articles for your device and has a slick interface that gets better looking the bigger your screen is. I bought this when it was .99 and now that it's free, there's no reason NOT to get it.
Angry Birds (Free): If you don't know what this is, download it. You'll thank me later.
Barcode Scanner (Free): A must if you want to download apps after reading app reviews. Most sites are using QR codes.
If you're into music there's a couple decent players (default one kinda stinks):
Winamp(free): You can whip the llama's ass on the go. This also allows wireless synching providing you have a windows PC and their latest beta client.
Poweramp (free tria...

Along these lines, what app do you personally recommend for pop email? The existing software sucks (or I suck) because it will not auto BCC. Plus it does not give you the option to delete from server. I download all the crap for my work email and have to delete it all again on outlook.
My Droid Incredible default pop email worked fantastic.
Thanks

I'm the wrong person to ask that question to sadly.
I use Gmail pretty much exclusively. (work email, if I got it, would be exchange, but I don't want on device)

Correct to the above blog.
Indirect sales makes of 47% of total Sales for Verizon. Indirect is the most profitable part of Verizon Wireless.

It's been a while since I've checked the numbers. I DID say "at least."

the only issue you may run into is returns, lets just say you are lucky enough to get a bad device (it happens). You will probably have to ship it back to Amazon. Not going to be able to exchange elsewhere.
Verizon will help you with warranty issues.
the only headache I have ran into is if you get a bad device and have to return it, most places will not ship you a replacement until they have your other one back and processed so turn around time can be a headache.

Yeah, if you got a dud from Amazon you'd have to return it through them, or get a warranty unit (which is not the preferred route for most people).
...
Corporate stores will not exchange or let you return your phone to them in the first 30 days. Any technical issues, they will assist you. But that is the chance you take when you buy from a non - corporate store location.

I'd take a CLNR rather than send my phone back to Amazon and have nothing in the interim.

Certified Like New Replacement
For us old-timers we also called them FRU: Field Replacement Unit.
They have this negative stigma of being refurbished. But if I bought a Droid X and returned it the next day for a Droid 2, that perfectly usable phone gets "refurbished" and dropped into a CLRN box.
Over the many years I've dealt with FRUs, CLNRs, warranty units, or whatever they want to be called, I've had one good rule of thumb: A phone that's been out a couple months started out with brand new units tossed into CLNR boxes. A phone that's been out about six months has mostly returns (didn't like the screen, didn't like the keyboard, didn't like the color, didn't want to pay for data, etc) in the CLRN boxes. A phone that's been out ...

The Chocolate was a HORRIBLE handset. I'm sure eventually every one of them was refurbished at least once. When I think of the worse phones I ever saw it is right up there with the Moto V265/V276 and of course the Silver Q.
...
Are you talking about Chocolate 3, because me and my wife have them for past 2 years and counting without any problems? Or we just lucky?
...
epikNov 24, 2010, 11:49 AM
We're talking about the Chocolate, the phone that became a category. You can think if it as the Chocolate 1.
...
You were worried weren't you?
...
No. The original Chocolate which came in Black, Puke Green, My Pony Pink and Ghost White. It's defects were too numerous to name. Verizon CROWED about having a lifetime exclusive on the Chocolate. The engineer who designed the damned thing should be given a sentence worse than drawing and quartering...forced to carry the Puke Green Chocolate for the rest of his days.

Don't forget, I had the silver Q with no problems, and loved it.

Well I guess I will keep my Chocolate 3 till LTE devices hit the shelfs.

Chocolate 3 was a good phone for most people. My wife had it for a year or more, before moving to the Blackberry Pearl Flip.

Do you think I could find four others who have the same testimony?
...
epikNov 24, 2010, 6:44 PM
I know I could. I'm sure we could find a lot of people who hated it.
Keep in mind, I carried a spare battery with me each day. I was more willing to overlook some of the phone's short comings. It was slow as molasses, too. But the only issue I ever had was a blown speaker. The FRU I had after that worked fine for another year.
But also keep in mind, I knew which settings in the registry to change to make my phone run better, too.
I always wondered why others had so many issues with it. Not everyone, but enough of them.
...
This was the first so-called smartphone that Verizon allowed ordinary corporate stores to stock Frus for. It was that bad.

epikNov 25, 2010, 1:05 AM
We started getting XV6600 FRUs on the same day - the two biggest sellers at the time.

Like Epic and everyone else said, the only time you're really going to have a problem is if the phone you get needs to be returned for another one. A corp store wont return it or exchange it, but other than that they'll be able to assist with anything else. They also made the point that the person may not be excited to help you.
I worked with a girl a while back who was a horrible shark, and she would tell people to return it and then come back to her so she could sell it to them and THEN she'd be able to help them out with their phone (doing things like activating it, transfering contacts, etc) and there were people who would actually do it. If you get someone who is like that, run in the other direction!

That kind of fraud is part of what has caused the negative impression of salespeople in this industry (that, and reps like those in other threads who assume that all customers should be experts in the wireless business by now).

By the way, are you still friends with this guy? Seems that he was not happy with you for buying that phone from Amazon so he gave you some bad information.

Thanks but since I love this phone and love Verizon Wireless that point is moot

don't really think it is moot.. plus it was a question?
Is this right do they charge extra cancellation fee if you take the phone off your account like wirefly??
