Today verizon came out that they are going to waive the cost for additional lines if those lines sign up for the $30 data plan, BUT this is only available to lines that do not already have a data plan. I think verizon may start losing customers to competitors because those competitors are going to offer plans to everyone.
Verizon is already known as being the most expensive, so they try to help that image by offering a cheaper data plan, bu theat plan is only for 150 compared to the 200 that everyone else is offering. They do not seem to help their image regardless of what they do.
By the way I am currently a verizon customer.

yes to any additional line that you add to a family plan or to make a family plan...ex instead of paying $40 for an additonal line with data, your just paying $30...but it has to be a smartphone...

I am the office manager for a smallish company and I monitor and pay both the AT&T and Verizon accounts for our executives. Everyone used to have Blackberries with Verizon. The people who switched to AT&T did so solely for Iphones. As to the bills, it's a tie - Verizon is NOT more expensive from where I sit (we don't have corporate discounts, we just pay...). I don't know of one person who would switch to AT&T for a cheaper price plan. Again, the Iphone was the only factor in their switching.

Wouldn't it be cheaper for your company to get a business account with one of the companies?

She did say this:
"(we don't have corporate discounts, we just pay...)"
...
I was pricing it out for myself, my wife, and my mom. Verizon is about $210 + tax and Sprint is $150 + tax. That is about $720/per year cheaper on Sprint.
...
No, we don't have enough employees to get any special plans.

Do you have five lines on the Verizon account?
...
Not any more. Now we have 4. We only pay for the owners' cellphones, and half of them went to AT&T. If they'd let the employees get on it would be a different story, but alas, no...

For future reference... if you ever have five phones or internet cards, collectively (you could have four phones and an internet card, for example), you have enough for a discount. If one of those lines moved off at some point, and you have four lines, your discount continues until the end of the discount agreement, which is usually two years.
I've had companies that once had five lines still get their discount after dropping down to two lines. All you need is one month with five lines to get it all set up. So if you're ever in that situation again, get it set up fast. In additional to saving the company money, Verizon will extend a discount to employees if your company.

Thanks for the info Epik - as always. Good to know. Maybe - maybe - in 2012 - maybe - if the damned you-know-what comes to Verizon, this issue will be resolved and I can get everyone back to them....in a perfect world. Sigh.
...
So when are you going to Sprint??? Apparently cost is an issue, even though AT&T plans almost mirror verizon...Every offer that is put out by Verizon will not be for everyone. Obviously this is not for you, do what is best for you.
...
Oh yeah. Sprint and T-Mobile are going to beat Verizon and AT&T on price every time. Go for it! I like the Simply Everything plan.
...
Sprint can be cheaper yes. If it works where you live, work and play then go for it. Remember that Sprint price is likely for just 3G. If you want an EVO or EPIC then your price goes up for 3.5G.
...
It is not a new plan. It is a promotion. One is still billed $9.99 but given a $9.99 bill credit.
...
If cost would be an issue I would be with T-mobile. But I am with Verizon after bad expierence with AT&T many years ago. I still believe you get what you pay for.
