telemarketing from Verizon

Here are some tips to know. Verizon is on a very aggressive telemarketing kick. You must call there customer service line and request to be taken off all call lists. Other wise you will get lots of call for you to renew your contract.

Also when you go into a store or over the phone make sure you know what you are paying for. Verizon like to combine the promotions. The price you see on the display has all kinds of charges on it for things you may not want. All ways ask for a brake down of what you are paying for.

At the time of purchase make sure they you are taken off all marketing lists and get a brake down of all you are paying for.

Know what you want when you get in there do you want a toy or a communication device....

Is English your second language? Maybe your third?

That's pretty much all false. Have a nice day.

well, know one thing is not false, I agree with them 100% about one year contracts. Heck, month to month is the way to go, just pay retail for a phone, get it off ebay, whatever, but, dont be tied down by a contract, life changes, you never know if you will have to shut the service down, and if you have a share talk plan with 5 lines, 5 X $175=$875 in early termination fees, OUCH!!!!

Pay the money up front while you can, because if you have to shut the service down later, due to loss of income, move or whatever, it will be less headaches then. I will not be under contract any more, and I will stay with verizon for service, but if my life changes that I cant have verizon, then I will be able to make a simple call and shut it down. Being...

Have to agree on that... MTM > 1-year contracts > 2-yr contracts.

However, I don't know what the original poster is talking about in regards to telemarketers harrassing him... I've never receieved a single telemarketer call while on Verizon. Maybe its because I have my cell number on the national 'Do Not Call' list? 😕

No, I dont know about the telemarketing calls to the cell phone, I have never gotten one of those, and hope verizon is smart enough not to start that. The only telemarketing call I have gotten that involves verizon is a follow up survey for customer service from a call that I made to CS, and I really dont want those either, they can mail me a form to fill out, I hate telemarketing calls, despise them, I pay for a phone for my use, and I dont want to use my phone that way unless I make the contact call... 🙂

That wouldn't make a difference, because companies you actually do business with are exempt from the provisions of the do not call list. It's not considered telemarketing if the call comes from a company you have an account with...

Thanks for the tip betterthanjake I went ahead and put my cell number on the do not call list. Verizon does check the list. One more thing they only call people out of contract.

FWIW I've seen only one customer ever telemarketed, and it wasnt from verizon. There is a company called "Cellular Phone Company" out of (if memory serves, its been awhile, I believe Bloomfield NJ).

Anyhoo, they sold her a phone, told the lady that her contract was about to expire and if she didnt renew, she'd lose her phone number.

And apparently they only have a 7 day return policy, and the lady was on her 15th day (the normal return policy for verizon). I called up Verizon, the lady on the phone was pretty sure it was fraud. She then found out that this company wasnt verizon, so they didnt have to play by the same rules and can set basically anything they want up in their contracts.

The lady was basically like.... "wtf do I do no...

that would have been an oppurtunity for you to go out of your way for this lady and work with verizon to get something worked out. I dont understand, maybe I am missing out on something, how can someone sell a phone and hook up verizon service without verizon authorizing them as an agent. If that was done, I would think that if you pursued it enough, verizon would work something out and hopefully shut down the company she bought it from. I have seen verizon fix agent's mistakes all the time, and I would think they would fix this one also, and go after the company that screwed her, just my opinion...

I definatly agree dont buy from someone who calls you, just hang up....

The girl in the credit dept. really made it sound like verizons hands were tied, she put me on hold for a bit to talk to her supervisor, and came back all "yeah, this sucks but there isnt anything we can do". We even did a 3 way call with the company and they basically said the lady should have read what she signed more closely.

Thing is, the contract said 15 days on it, but they kept saying they and I swear to god I quote "attached a cover sheet with all the pertinent information, she must have lost it".

I eventually told my rep, and he said that in the future just call him because there are "ways around problems like that". Oh well, it was too late by then.

I did my best though, just wasnt enough... at least I got the lady an addr...

Some more info. if you take a 2 yr contract save $50 on the phone and $15 on activation fee the turn around and spend $6/mo for ins. or $144 for 2yrs. then get the $100 off your next purchase. you wind up only getting around $40 if you get the full $100 and most people do not get because there phone is ether less then that or a rebate is involved. If you buy a a phone that is over a $100 you must got a lot of money to burn. The A650 will do better then the 6100 signal wise so will the i6015 this is just an example. I have used both the A650 and 6100 and friend uses the i6015.

On the other hand you spend $65 more then a 2yr contract and no ins. and just get a phone that has good signal you will save in the long run. On upgrades if yo...
