Palm Pre+ has wi-fi hotspot for free, other phones, like the Droid X you have to pay extra.

Please explain why.

Couldn't sell enough Palms otherwise. Very simple actually.

The Palm Pre wasn't selling and VZW needed to give customers a reason to choose the Pre over other similarly priced smartphones. Done whining now?

You kick dogs and cats for fun and steal candy from babies, don't you? Read the original post again, sloooooowly. There is no whining there. It is a legitimate question.

To the original poster: The truth is the Pre was not moving at all and this was their way of selling it. I had an assistant manager at a Dallas store pretty much refuse to address a warranty issue with my phone because he couldn't strong arm me into upgrading to this trash of a phone. I was like, "Hell no! Get me tech support on the line."

I was a naysayer of the Pre and Pixi before they even came out, and every time I was honest about it someone came on here and gave me crap for it. Where's the Palm fanclub when someone else calls the Palm for what it is?

Not here.

Yeah. It's easy to be polite and all until there is some *BLEEP* trying to lock you into a two year contract. I was thinking: "I haven't been out of contract for three years to end up with THAT ugly POS!!!

I only sell that thing (reluctantly) if someone absolutely wants it and they did their homework on it.

My issue with that phone over the past year or so has been the fact that it should have been a groundbreaking device two years ago. Instead, it's a coattails device following everything else. There are a dozen or more phones I'd rather pick up long before the Pre.

I do have to admit, though, that I was tempted to get it for the hotspot... for about two minutes. I have an aircard line, and with my discount would have saved me $25 a month with the free hotspot. But then, I'd have the PRE. I'd rather stick with my Mifi.
