Even assuming it DOES come to a CDMA platform... who cares? The iPhone is not a thing that interests me.
...
So? Your subject is so appropriate. Who caress? MILLIONS of people will when the IPHONE arrives on verizon. Now who cares that it does not interest you? NO ONE.
...
Hopefully not you, in that case. Nothing Personal, I just don't swing that way.
Seriously, though. After the latest very public SNAFUs, aren't people outside the industry as weary of the thing as people inside the industry are?
If not, why not?
...
Because three million iphones sold in a quarter is a big deal. Seriously.

People are clones!!!!!

I am sure the people making money selling to those 'clones' care.

It's great for apple, yes.
But verizon needs to care. For them, selling 3 million smartphones is what matters, and the only thing the brand has to do with it is how much it costs them to sell that model. For iOS, it's EXPENSIVE, so expensive that it could hurt their ability to sell other devices (specifically android) that net them a lot more money per user.
If you look at ATT and Verizon's numbers, while ATT has FAR more smartphone users (even before their tiered plan) they were only making SLIGHTLY more data ARPU.
Yes, more money is more money, but for Verizon, adding a device that has a lower profit margin could hurt their bottom line the more devices they sell. Investing in the iphone means less money to invest in Android (an...

Honestly, I would prefer a Vphone. However, if Verizon doesn't approve an iphone then I would love to see hold outs like Scott finally give in an port out to AT&T.

Please make your typos more amusing next time. Being relegated to mere ghey innuendo is unbecoming.

I don't want one either, but choice is good. If people will buy it, they'd be foolish not to build it.
As for me, can't wait for the Samsung Fascinate...

China has a very large CDMA carrier.
again, until we see some devices or actually press announcements, the "iphone on verizon" rumor is going to be as reputable asUFO abduction stories

That's called getting drunk in a strange bar.

verizon had the first shot at the iphone and turned apple away. Why because it cost to much and att has been paying a prem price for a long time. Also let it be known the android platform is the number one OS on smart phones world wide. And the market share increases by the quarter.
...
They turned it down because it was a concept. It would be like someone bringing you a sketch of a car and demanding that you make a decision to invest billions into its design. Verizon won't turn it down if they get another crack at it. THEN those who despise the iphone can go on buying Android or Blackberry or WebOS. Those who crave an iphone on Verizon can buy it. Everyone is happy...especially the capitalists.
...
I agree mostly but the other decision that I think played into it was that apple does not subsidize it enough. Verizon would have lost money on every iphone they sold just like att does. They will get it eventually and allot of people will buy it but I think andriod will prove more of a mover for verizon then apple.

Initially, the verizon iPhone would crush all other launch sales numbers. The thousands of at&t customers that are patiently waiting for the VZiPhone would come in one huge rush. (and i think that apple would purposely underproduce the first run of vziPhones to drive demand even higher)
After that though, i really think numbers would fall off. The iPhone of course would take sales from android phone on the verizon network, but not by much after the initial rush. It would be just another pretty smartphone option for big red.
Long story short, i agree with you wombaugh
