Finally! VZAccess Manager for an Android Device
So, I am bored and decided to browse the VZAM site and lo and behold the Droid Incredible is listed under advanced devices. Now I have an option besides a WinMo device to upgrade my XV6900 to in the future.

It's the software that verizon uses to control their legal tethering service. It allows your phone to be used as a modem by your computer, and comes with some tools to help you track your usage.

I wonder if there is a hot-spot application that I could download without changing my plan (as I would have to do with the Pre)?

not to my knowledge. all hotspot apps for android (currently) require root access and use your smartphone, not tethered data

It is software. I use my phone as a modem to connect to the Internet. VZAccess Manager is the client one can use. Actually, if one has the drivers one does not actually need the software. The point here is that before now I did not have the option to tether with an Android device. I will probably continue to use my XV6800 though, but I at least have the option.

You're probably right. The data line has been eligible to upgrade since '07. Sadly I could have upgraded to a Storm or something and sold it on Ebay for a profit while keeping this line on the 6900. I kept telling myself that I was leaving Verizon any day... I'm still here. *Sigh*
