Best phone for me?

Vorex

Apr 9, 2005, 5:22 PM
I'm switching from AT&T to Verizon on the 13th, I was looking at getting the e815 but that doesn't look like it will be out by then, was hoping it would be out like april 1st...I want something with tons of features, camera, can use with my laptop to get online, preferibly IrDA or bluetooth, memory expansion, and mp3@128k quality ringtone support, is there anything like this for verizon? I suck at picking out phones as my last 2 have ended up sucking, not that at&t had a vast selection...

if you want something for your laptop you could get the DO cards. (ev-do) i dont think they have any handsets yet that support DO, but i could be wrong.

they do have 2 phones coming out in the 2nd quarter of 2005 that have DO on it. they are.. Motorola E815 and the Samsung SCH-i730 . the other phones are on the 1xrtt network.

i like;

kyocerra kx2
LG VX8000
Samsung SCH-a890
UTStarcom/ Audiovox CDM8940
Motorola V710
Samsung SCH-a670

good luck 🙂

Keep one thing in mind... 15 Day Worry Free Guarantee. If you don't like it, return it, try another, repeat as necessary. Hope that helps! 😁

I could be wrong here, but, I remember reading that you can only swap your phone out one time for a new completely different phone then what you have. such as swapping a motorola for a LG. I dont know, but, there are verizon reps on here that would or should know that answer.

You could always try the high end phones (6600 and 600) They are expensive, but you get what you are paying for.

I would recommend the v710.

The EVDO phones that were recommended do not have the ability to be tethered (unless hacked). The xv6600 and 600 that were also recommended cannot be tethered.

And also remember, the v710 is the subject of a class action lawsuit due to false advertising its crippled BT functionality. Tethered it may not be bad, but it is still very limited compared to other devices from other carriers.

Nonetheless, it fits what vortex wants.

Oh, and by the way. There was no false advertising----> The v710 can connect to a pc via bluetooth. VZW did what every other wireless company does, take advantage of the irresponsible; when people read "can connect to your pc" they automatically assumed it was for obex-VZW is not responsible for assumptions. Also, there are a lot of BT handset that dont have all profiles enabled, VZW is not the only one

Verizon said just enough to make people assume....Its underhanded. As always though from Verizon standpoint it's the customer's fault for "reading onto the blanket statement".

The courts may make Verizon responsable for obvious assumptions.

Just saying enough is what all companies do in the US of A, it's capitalism, it's marketing 101. False advertising would be "connect to your pc wirelessly for OBEX." That would be a false statement because it is by definition false, not true. Companies are not and should not be liable for what customers think and assume.

Other v710s for other carriers. There are bt phones from tmobile that don't have all profiles enabled. Just because it doesn't have all profiles doesnt mean that its crippled.

Of course you would think VZW is the only one because you hate that company.

You should read wnrussell's recent post about the v710, that guy knows more about BT than you and me combined.

Russel said Motorola made the phones that way. I agree BUT UNDER VERIZON"S DIRECTION....Motorola is only a vendor that provides product that the buyers dictate. It still goes back to VErizon. Verizon may have not tampered with the phones themselves but that did demand the manufacturer NOT include OBX file transfer....whats the difference?

Which T Mobile phones have OBX crippled or purposefully switched off?

VZW is not the only carrier that has disabled Bluetooth. Sprint has the LG pm325 that has crippled bluetooth as well...
