Stupid Question-- but just want to be sure
Hey guys I am on my mom's family plan and am now eligible for a NE2 upgrade. Gonna get the HTC ERIS. I know i have to get the 29.99 data plan but was wondering if it would extend the contracts of everyone on the family plan for two years or just me and my mom. I know this is a stupid question, but just want to be sure.

The only contract extended is the one you use the upgrade date for. Each line runs as its own contract.

You are right. It was a stupid question...

Just kidding 🙂 Only stupid question is the one unasked.
But... as Menno said above: Each and every single line is on it's own contract. Only YOUR line will be affected with both a 2 year contract and a $30 a month data charge. Other lines are untouched.

Very true, only dumb question is the one you never ask. That being said though you should take this time to compare all thecarriers and see which one is best for your needs. Coverage and cost are the most common things to look at. Spread the cost of all carriers over 2 years to see who is going to save you money, something we all want to do. Also check the coverage, you may find that having coverage in places you never plan to visit is useless.
check my profile if ya have any questions.

It's worth mentioning this, so you don't have sticker shock, but if you have New Every Two that means you're the primary line on the account (the line that costs $60 or more and carries the minutes). If you're a secondary line, you don't actually have New Every Two, you're simply eligible for the standard upgrade.
People confuse New Every Two each and every day. If you have NE2, the Eris will be either $30 or $50 cheaper, or free after rebate if you have the $100 NE2. The discount varies based on how long since your last contract was signed as well as the cost of the price plan you're on.
If you're a secondary, the phone will be $80 after rebate.
