Why would someone reveal information about what they were or were not training? Most of the people here who identified as reps are people who are pretty well known on the forums.

Most training is said to be confidential.. so why risk giving out confidential information just to post it on a forum?

Some might.. but I really don't get questions like this... It's in the same vein as "That verizon guy mentioned NOTHING about the Droid when I asked him about phones last august.."

1) Most Verizon people here would learn about the Nexus' existence a week or less before it hits any store or sales outlet.

2) Those who know anything about the Nexus or unlaunched phones are watched like hawks. A close friend of mine used to work for Quality Assurance before he was fired for leaking information on the net. He used an alias, and never took pictures that could be tracked to him. He never used a work computer to screen cap, print, or save anything, and he never logged in remotely from any non-work computer to the same thing. Corporate security simply knew who he was. Somehow.

3) Most Verizon employees value what they do enough to keep their mouth shut.

4) Most Verizon employees don't frequent here, and of those w...

Good post Epik. That's how the rumors start, customers read incorrect info on the internet then come to the store and try to tell us when we are getting phones. They are they same ones who try to tell you how to do your job and then complain about the phone they have been waiting for .....it is too expensive, it is too small, etc. The majority of stuff posted in this forum is incorrect. Just wait for the phone to be launched........

The instance I'll never forget was the guy who was adamant that we were launching the Storm 2 by the end of the week. He returned his Storm 1, insisting he was right and we were wrong. When he came in on Friday of that week, he thought I was joking with him. It took two others and a call to customer care to confirm I wasn't joking with him. This was a customer I'd been helping for years, and had never treated him without total honesty. He was very disappointed in ME, though it was his own fault for trusting "Internet."

Three months later, I called him on the day it launched to see if he was interested. He hung up on me.

At work, I usually refer to "the Internet" as just "Internet" as if it were the name of some malicious dipwad o...

Plus he accused Menno of being brainwashed and Menno does not even work for Verizon. He just has ethics. This guy does not care that people give their word that they will not leak proprietary info. He doesn't care about Verizon (neither do I) or more importantly the employees he is asking to risk their jobs to give him info.

I'd be hard-pressed to find a similar paycheck right now, even with the economic downturn (more than $10 grand for me, over the last couple years).

Yes, I am brainwashed because I understand the concept of Proprietary information.

Sites like Engadget, Boygenius, etc get their information by data mining the FCC, and paying off reps who are in Quality Assurance, or similar departments. your average customer facing rep ONLY gets information when it is pushed through email/Eroes which is typically less than a week from the official launch of a phone, or about a week or so before they announce it (if they announce it a bit early).

If a rep knows anything earlier than that week, they either read sites like this one (most don't) or they are in one of those departments who most likely doesn't deal with customers, so you won't get to speak to them anyway.

Seriously... This isn't "sho...

As I said in another post, the people who most likely frequent here are the ones who are given information last. Yet, they're quick to talk about Internet rumor as if it's Internet gospel, but in reality it's all conjecture and hearsay.

The people who know, know damn well not to frequent Internet forums. It's what they're PAID for.

Get over yourself.

Competitive advantages like phones are HUGE for cellphone companies. It doesn't matter if YOU consider it a big deal. Trading corporate information, from the "secret ingredients" in KFC to a new stealth bomber design are all corporate secrets. The only difference is that with bombers and the like you could also get espionage and treason tacked onto your charges.

And for someone, getting fired is ALWAYS a big deal. even if it's for a "stupid" reason like phones. Moreover. if phones don't really matter, according to you, then why risk your job over such trivial information as release dates because some guy on some forum who has no idea how business operates says it's not a big deal.. I wonder who the rep should ...
