Im upgrading soon from the BB Curve to the Droid w/ my NE2 and was wondering if someone could help me w/ the difference between the 2 data options. What data restrictions are there on the lower priced option?

you only need the 29.99 data plan. Not the $45 one.

the only "restriction" is that your exchange based emails might not sync as well. Android isn't quite where tech people want it to be yet, so you might have to get a third part app if you are a heave MS exchange user.

Other than that.. you'll love the phone if you use it for surfing the web.

also you might have to go with the 44 dollar one depends on your email if its a pop 3 you should have no problems with the 29.99 data pack.

Well, For some exchange, the 30 one might be fine as well.

Basically, if his work email can be accessed from any computer, he should be fine with the 30, if he needs to use a VPN, or be at a computer at work (or he needed to turn his home computer over to tech support to get it set up) the 45 one might be required.

I'm pretty sure the $44.99 package only applies to wireless sync options that push calendar appointments and other MS Outlook-type data to your phone.

Android isn't even capable of that service (without fancy third party apps), so $29.99 is all you have to sign up for.

I think you may be right. I know when selling an Android device our system defaults to the $29.99 data package. All other Pda devices default to the $44.95 package. I've never looked for the larger package but I bet it defaults to the smaller one because it's the only one.

It's not the only one. I have a business that's switching over from Blackberry to Droid, and because they use Exchange servers they have to use the $44.99 option (which is what that option is for - syncing with a company's server). We've put about six Droids on the $44.99 plan so far.

And depending on your company's agreement with Verizon, the discount on the data portion of your bill could increase. Mine went from 18% with my Curve to 20% with my Droid Eris. Again, that 20% only applies to my data portion ($29.99).
