Droid reviews vs. iphone reviews

I was looking at the 50 reviews so far for the Droid and noticed a pattern on phonescoop. When someone reviews a phone, they tend to write a quick paragraph about their impressions, then "The Pros", and "The Cons". This is consistent with the Droid reviews. However, when I checked the reviews for the iphone 3GS- I kept seeing only paragraphs of praise. No pros. No cons (There were a couple but nothing like the Droid reviews). This concerns me because it seems like people who like the iphone aquire tunnel vision. Will the Droid need this kind of blind alegiance if they are to impact iphone dominance?

Its not necessarily tunnel vision. I think the iphone is just very impactful for a lot of people. Doesn't mean the droid is bad, might just mean that people aren't feeling as strong of a connection with the device.

On a second note...Don't over analyze, in all reality it prolly means nothing.

One thing I've noticed from a lot of reviews is that a lot of them are written from long time smartphone users, so they are comparing them to blackberries, WINMO, etc. while a lot of iphone reviews seem to be from first time smartphone users.

imo, if someone is used to bread and water and suddenly are given a feast, they are going to be more positive than someone who just left another dinner party.

..I think that's my que for lunch.

Great analogy and I totally agree with you!!

People are "blown away" by the iphone, but they're coming from a moto razr, so of course they love it.

Another interesting point is the original iPhone is rated a 3.7 overall, the iPhone 3G is rated 3.8 and the 3GS is rated a 4.3

The Droid, in it's first incarnation is rated a 4.2

I could only wonder how much better Droid will be rated when the "2" and "3" versions come out

Your kidding right? ๐Ÿคจ
The Droid has (of now) a whopping 51 reviews. Where as the first iPhone has 226, iPhone 3G has 178, and the iPhone 3GS has 80.
You see where I'm going with this... ๐Ÿ˜ณ .
That's why currently the Droid has an higher overall rating.
I'd be more interested in seeing if the Moto Droid even GETS 226 reviews! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

thats because the phone has only been out maybe a month if that. therefore 50 reviews in 1 month is amazing as to the fact that how long was the iphone out to get those 226 reviews. even so if the droid doesnt get as many reviews you also have to factor in that 2 android phones were released the same time. Motorola Droid with 2.0 Eclair and HTC Droid Eris with 1.5 Doughnut. Now the Droid eris has 12 reviews and is at a 4.67ish and only 1 review was bad. so if you take 11 goods and 1 bad and multiple that into 226. Roughly 207/226 reviews would be 5 star on the HTC Droid Eris. Im pretty sure that smashes the iPhone considering there are a lot of reviews on the Droid Eris from ex-iPhone users.

how does more reviews=lower ratings?

If anything they will get higher. As the software improves and bugs are fixed the phone will continue to evolve. I don't see this phone every dropping below 4.0-4.2. And I think realistically it could go even higher.

I am not a Motorola fan, however I wonder if some do not create user accounts just to bash the Droid... When the Droid was first released most of the reviews were positive. Then I came across this one:

Moto Junk
by JPWrangler06 Nov 8, 2009

Just picked up this device and after a day it is going back! My wife uses the new Apple 3Gs iphone and first of all signal strength side by side the iphone is superior! Comparing the two side by side it is clear that this will be another passing joke like all others who have tried to beat the iphone. I was a believer too until today. Monday this junk is going back to Verizon and I am voiding the new contract and reluctantly until now going to the true King...
