starting new contract, any way?

So, I got an EnV Touch in June of this year, which brings me to June of 2011 w/this 2 year contract.

I really would like something other than the Touch, it's a brick, I like it, but darn it's big. Used to have the LGVX8700, still have it and can switch back to it, I know this.

Was wondering if any of you know if I can sign a new 2 year contract and get promo pricing on a new phone? Or, is it too soon since I've only been on this contract since June, it'll be 6 months on 12/14. Been w/the company for 11 years, that probably does not matter though.

The girl @ the Verizon store told me that I could only pay retail at this point, or go to amazon or ebay for something - but that would still be retail.

Thanks.

At this point you are looking at Full Retail price. If you are on a $49.99 or higher rate plan then you will be eligible for an Annual Upgrade after one year.

And remember, if you take it off your account and decide to add it back later it will require data.

Thanks for that Azeron .... and Texas ... what do you mean about removing and adding data, etc.,?

My old 8700 and the touch are able to be on the same plan, the touch isn't "smart" lol.

Or do mean the fact that I have to have data w/the touch? (I forget, but I think I do need the data w/the touch)

The EnV Touch now requires at least a $9.99 data plan. It didn't originally when it came out. You wouldn't have been required in June. If you now switch to a different phone and then decide to go back to the Touch you'll be required to have that plan.

Ah, thank you for that.

While I have your ear ... how much data does that 9.99 get you ?

Right now I'm paying 99.99 for nationwide premium 900, which includes 900 minutes, of course, plus internet, unlimited text and the VCast Vpack.

I hardly use the internet and I'm wondering if I can save myself a few bucks a month by changing to a 9.99 plan, but I can't tell how much data I use monthly right now, can't find it in bytes on the bill.

Thanks

The $9.99 gets you 25MB. As far as I know if you have the VCast pack there is no way to tell how much data you've been using since it was unlimited with that plan. It's very annoying.

Annoying indeed since I'd like to know what I do. But then if I dropped the VPack and went to the data, I'd lose the Nav but I don't use it much, but it's nice to have.

Oh well :-)

When the Touch was released it did not require a data plan, but now Verizon policy is that if one is activated it must have one. This may mean nothing to you if you already have a data plan. Data plans for normal handsets currently are $9.99 for 25MB or 19.99 for 75MB OR if you have the $15 Vcast Vpak for Unlimited data which Verizon's greedy aces no longer offer you can keep it. If you have that feature once it's gone...it's gone.

But wait, according to their site, their nationwide premium still offers the VPack

Right. So does the Connect plan. But there was once a stand alone option for $15 which could be added to individual lines... No more.
