Verizon phone that can use an eBook reader

This is urgent. I have to buy a phone before Thanksgiving Day.

What Verizon phone would allow me to download an eBook reader but not saddle me with the extra cost of that DATA PACKAGE?

LORNA.

I would get the iPhone, but my contract with Verizon is new. Also, the iPhone contract is $70 because of that $30 data package that one must buy.

PLEASE SEND NAMES OF PHONES THAT I CAN LOOK AT AND CHECK THE PACKAGES FOR. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

OK. I just read that the only devices supported by the eBook readers are Blackberry, iPhone, iTouch, and the computers.

PLEASE ADVISE: If I am not going to use the phone often but will probably use the camera or video........ which Blackberry should I buy?
And which one has the biggest screen to accomodate me reading an eBook on it????

THIS IS AN EMERGENCY AND I NEED TO BUY BEFORE THANKSGIVING.

I notice that the DROID has a 3.7“ diagonal display..... which would be nice for reading. Does anyone have an idea whether or not it will support eBook reading?????

As with most Carriers the only phones capable of doing this are smartphones and the only way they allow you to have this phone is if you have the "data" package. Biggest screen blackberry on Verizon is the Storm 2. Very capable phone for reading books because I do the same. Even if a phone like the LG EnV Touch was able to read ebooks VZW, just like most other carriers on multimedia type phones, require a data package. So there is relatively no way around this.

I use a basic VZW LG for cellphone and an iPod Touch for the 'media' stuff. You can load quite a few books (audio or text) on to the Touch, save those data fees.

Only those who haven't used e-ink, as in e-readers such as Kindle or Sony, think that reading a book on a 3-inch screen is going to be OK. It won't be, for long.

Why would you want to attempt to read a book on a tiny backlit screen? The eyestrain is abysmal.

Buy an Amazon Kindle if you want a great e-book reader. Two-week battery life, no eyestrain, paperback size pages, adjustable font sizes, wireless downloads at no cost, etc.
