I had America's Choice from 2003-2009. At the beginning of 2009 I did not upgrade my phone, but I received an offer for the Nationwide plan. I asked the CSR if what is the difference and he said, nothing really. In fact it's better, data is now $1.99/MB. I rarely used data on my Kyocera 7135, but under AC I think I had data coming out of my minutes of use. Well, recently, my kid was playing with my phone and clicked onto the data and come to find out that I'm being charged $0.015/kb (or, $15.36/MB when you factor $0.015 x 1024 kb = 1 MB @ $15.36).

I called VZW and they said that since I have a PDA phone, I cannot receive the $1.99/MB rate. I feel totally duped!

What can I do? Is there any way to get back on the America's Choice c...

Data was always priced at that rate for the smartphones. It has never been $1.99/MB for a smartphone. You were not duped.

If you are within 30 days of upgrading, I think you can return the phone and that should undo everything. But then again, I could be wrong.

It doesn't make a difference if you're on AC or Nationwide with a smartphone. That's the rate PAYG data is charged. The only other options you have are to totally block data (which will block picture messaging) or get the $29.99 unlimited plan.

The phone he/she has doesn't qualify for the $29.99 plan. It's pay per use (which he's been on for six years already), or $44.99/mo. Most anything before the Palm Treo 700W doesn't qualify for the $29.99 plan. Most everything from Palm Treo 700WX does.

As others have said, the $0.015/kb rate was the plan you signed up for in 2003. The only other plan was $44.99/mo, which I'm assuming you opted out of.

Your battery still holds a charge after all these years?

Even on the America's Choice Plan you would have the same data rate of $.015 per KB on a Pay per use data plan on a smartphone. *Shrug* It is a useless fight. The only difference on America's Choice was for ordinary handsets. Using mobile web or get it now/media center on Am Choice used minutes rather than data. Take it out of your kid's allowance. Now if you still wanted to change your rate plan even though it is not going to make a difference with that handset you have thirty-five days to change your mind. It sounds as though it has been nine months or so. But again it wouldn't matter anyway. You would still have those data charges.
