Is it possible for NON-Bias help here???
(Before I forget I am out of contract with Verizon as of 7/1/09, and I also have a pre-paid T-Mobil phone and a Boost phone. So you see I have three different companies at the same time)
I have gone to Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint corp. stores. I have had the chance to use the Tour, Iphone, and the Pre. And I have to tell you, the Iphone was the easiest to use of the three. In case you are wondering all 4 or 5 carriers work here in Gainesville, Fl and in N. Y. So coverage was not a problem with the big three.
I can see now why people here on here are always trash mouthing AT&T on here. It's because Verizon feels threaten By the ease of which the Iphone performs. The Ip...

And as you can tell, Verizon doesn't need the iPhone. We have always done well with out it. AT&T makes nothing off the iPhone.
And the Tour or the Pre is not suppose to be the iPhone, so why would you even compare it?

The Tour looks like a really fun device. I'd get one if I could afford the data plan, etc.
AT&T loses a bunch on the subsidy of the phone as well as the acquisition costs of getting new customers in the door. But over the course of the 2 year contract, and then some, these become some of the most profitable customers in the industry with their high ARPU.
Why do you insist on making the same basic post over and over again?

Ironically, before this you were complaining about how there seemed to be so many touch screens because of the difficulties with texting. I use the ipod touch, and while I like the device, typing on it is more frustrating than any other touch screen I've tried (save the Glyde)
On top of that Chapperal, you didn't ask for a single bit of help in your post. So, what is it, exactly, you want non biased help with?
In all seriousness, you're right on many aspects. When signal isn't the issue, you have to weigh other issues. For instance, a Blackberry is going to be pretty solid on 3G services on Verizon or Sprint, but you'll find they teeter between 3G and 2G on AT&T, as does the iPhone.
If you're not on the web that much, no big deal. I'm on the web a lot during the day, and I just spent a week in a 2G only area on extended network (roaming without paying roaming fees) and it was painfully hard while using the web. If I knowingly pick up a device known to switch between 2/3G speeds on any carrier, I'd be having some serious second doubts. AT&T is sti...

I have Verizon, and love the Blackberry platform. I just got the Tour when it came out and its the best phone I have ever used. However, I like the idea of what the iphone can do...so I also have an ipod touch...simple solution...
You won't like them all. This IS the internet and Menno and jayshmay has just as much poo to fling as I do. That's reality. If you don't like it, you can pull a the_eraser and find some other place to hang your hat. Welcome to Phonescoop.
I get the hunch that VZW may have learned from ATT's mistake and we probably won't see an iPhone on VZW's network until they roll out LTE. As not to have the network congestion ATT now suffers and is scrambling to fix.

You do need to remember that on CDMA data congestion has zero impact on voice network quality. If VZW had the exact same 3G network spectrum capacity and 2G network spectrum capacity as AT&T, in the exact same geographical areas, then VZW would still get fewer complaints about crappy service because CDMA treats data different.
If your youtube stream gets delayed and buffers for 30 seconds instead of 20 seconds before it starts playing, you're not likely to call in and cons...

Bottom line? Go with the carrier, phone, and plan that works for you.
If you're such an "adult" as you stated in your post, then go make an adult decision already. All three phones you listed have pros and cons, so figure out what works within your life. We can't tell YOU what YOU need in a device.
Just my 2 cents...
