Back to Basics
I'd had a Nokia 6190 phone. Black and White screen, nothing fancy. The girl at Costco told me the phone I ended up buying, an Audiovox CDM-8900, was just about the best. She said it had won awards and that nobody ever complained. It's a clamshell camera phone with all the bells and whistles. But, the only thing I like about it is the clamshell design - it's nice to forget about locking the keypad when I stick the phone in my pocket.
The camera is pretty lame, and I have about a 30% success rate in sending pictures to my email. The color screen seems pointles...

I switched from T-Mobile to Verizon Wireless last July. I was persuaded by Verizon's reputation for a solid network. I'm happy with the network - but unhappy with my phone.

Muchdrama is right about the samsungs as well. In particular the a670 is sweet. Great camera, color screen inside AND outside. The reception is top notch. No speakerphone though. This would be more of a slimline look phone IMHO.
Normally I would recommend an LG at this point BUT the current lineup is a bit high-priced, and the vx6100.. I'm hearing bad things about.
The 8900 sucked. I hated selling that phone. Customers would want it cause it was a great price.

It is note a case of being 'sweet talked'... It is the new corporate life of not only Verizon, but many companies now... Lie... Lie.. Lie.... Anything to make the sale... Mukmar at my local Verizon Store will say anything... Flat out lie... And, when you call him on the lie, he walks away and says 'next'... The Verizon Stores used to be a place to get help.. Now, it is the sale at any cost... Mukmar is the manager, and promotes this to the employees... Customer is getting a phone... Don't even ask about services or accessories... Just charge the customer... If they figure it out, then, it is just a lost sale... It used to be that the affiliates were like this, but now, the affiliates seem to care, while Verizon Doesn't... But

They have been selling Sprint phones that were discontinued over a year previous to the customer purchase.
As for the 8900, it was Verizon's problem child although the problems were fixed by the time USCC got it.
All in all I would not recommend Costco for wireless, their products are here today and gone tomorrow with no accessories or anything available on such old phones. What do they care? as long as you buy your 100 lb tub of butter and your 5000 lb can of coffee. They don't specialize in anything. Our local costco only has wireless phones about 2/3 of the time.

Nokia 6015i. Not a flip (but how hard is it to press Menu-*). Great RF, battery life, durability. And of course the simple, well designed Nokia user interface. Just a good solid phone without the gimmicks.
phonebook complex???? wtf if that is complex to you, im surprised you learned how to type...
