Better to buy from Verizon store or online or 3rd party?

I don't remember much of how I did it several years ago when I bought this LG VX8300. My contract expired a long time ago and I need to get a new phone, probably the LG VX 8360. (My Consumer Reports rates it high and I am familiar with this LG VX phone.)

I want to buy the least expensive package/plan because I don't use my phone much.

I have a Bluetooth earbud and a memory card for my present LG vx8300 and am assuming that I will be able to use them with the new 8360. Am I right or wrong?

Do you recommend that I buy it from a Verizon store, or from a 3rd party store that sells this phone, or online? The online has a deal which knocks off $50.

Thank you....
Lorna

Support your local community. Buy from a store where you live.

Yes, online has instant rebates. On this phone it is only $50 which you will get back in the form of a Prepaid Visa card. The end cost will be the same.

The bluetooth headset and memory card will still work. If you use a car charger, you will need to purchase a new one.

Some but not all third party retailers can honor your New Every Two ((if you have that on your line)). Corporate stores can all honor that. The only difference between online and in-store is the instant rebate = wait for shipment or instant phone = mail-in rebate. The mail-in rebate process has been simplified and made much more efficient since the days of the 8300, so don't worry about that, and you will receive a $50.00 pre-paid debit VISA (as the other poster stated). The other benefit of going to the store is, contacts can be moved over (if you don't have Backup Assistant((which everyone really should))), and you may not really want the 8360 after all...something else might catch your eye. I can tell you this: the 8360 WILL require ...

I always go corporate. The main reason? If you ever have an issue, verizon is real shady about covering your phone if you didn't get it from a corporate store. I just prefer to deal with corporate stores, then you're covered at any store across the country (nice if you ever travel), not just your local store.

They're not shady about covering a phone from an authorized retailer. The only time you run into issues is if the retailer buys the phones directly from the manufacturer, or from someone who verizon doesn't authorize.

If you buy a phone from a dealer, and take it to a corp store during the first 30 days, they will not give you a brand new phone. This is not shady.

Can you buy a TV at Walmart, and try to exchange/return it at Bestbuy even though it is the exact same tv?

After the 30 days, there should be no issues getting a certified like new replacment(refurb) phone for any defects in equipment. It still carries the remainder of manuf. warranty so it really is not that big of a deal.

Yes. For the first 30 days, you take it back to the dealer and they will exchange it in store for you (make sure you pay attention to their return policy when you buy the phone.
